It is nice to finally see one of these on a small car instead of a truck. They are pretty common on some trucks that use them for hill climbing while pulling a trailor. They never really took off with the truck crowd and ended up only being sold to companies with work trucks. They have had durability issues and life spans of around 40k-60k miles but this one looks a little more well built and isn't going to be beat on like it is on a construction truck.

Yeap, I didn't know about the rating of the current motor which I still think could be improved down the track.
If we have data on how much torque is required to drive the compressor wheel at 50,000rpm then the motor choice could definitely be sized better. This is a good thing because it shows that there is so much potential in this setup in the future.
That previous comment was in reference to your proposed charging circuit supplying that much current at 56 volts.
Their current methodology of the isolation switch in WOT makes much better sense instead of redoing the charging/protection circuit.
Yea i been thinking about it for such a large currant draw it would be best to use SLA batteries be best off with like a deep cycle golf cart battery something with higher A/H rating, altho using Li ion would be good for weight i dont think they would like to be discharged/recharged so hard. only problem is a SLA is 23LBS Vs a Li ion 3LBS. As for changing the charging system 56V would be for a 48V battery set up the only reason for the step up is that the currant draw isn't insane with a larger motor and with a alternator there would be no DC to DC convertor to make 24V
Only prob with the SLA is that they weigh a tonne compared to Li ion
4 Deep cycle 32 Ah would weigh 92 LBS Would Be Awesome tho as they like to be Burst charged.

As for the SW motor it is an extreme motor because it uses electromagnetic pulses to operate witch are timed digitally the limiting factor of these motors are the bearings and circuitry.

The numbers are great its awesome that this has sparked so much interest toward this.
@usptwins u cant after bagging the shit out of this come back and read shit and be like this is actually ok?

Since the new controller would try to keep positive pressure (that's my take on the description of its main difference), how long would the battery last since the engine will always be under load? Just curious. I am very looking forward to this kit. Keep up the great work @fenton and @Toma.
The super charger under the partial load to get up to atmospheric hardly drains the batteries. The alternator provides enough juice to relieve the restriction.

And it isn't positive boost it is just below atmospheric :-)

I understand how the original motor worked, but if you read this http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=547 Which is post #547 on page 25, you'll see what I'm talking about. Also see fenton's comment above. Thanks @fenton.

Nice job @fenton! Gotta say alot of people will look to this for a DD/light auto-X car. I am not sure it can be that helpful on the track. If the price can be around 1000$, you will have my attention. Would be cool to see this kit on a car with a full exhaust with a header, tune, and E85

Rob posted this today:
Today:

Base intake temp: fairly stable 81F.

Several low rpm 3.5- 3.8 psi pulls, peak 132 F

Several high rpm pulls 1.25 - 2 psi, peak 104 F

Ambient 65F.

Vehicle: 2012 4.3L V6

Device: small LCD temp display (~0.5 second rate).

Fenton's will be the same.

The restriction remover is a awesome feature. I have been driving with it for two days now and it just works great. You want a little more power, you rev up to 4000 or so at 80 percent throttle and it gives you that little bit more.

As i said before the system doesnt draw that much power, when it turns on i see the V drop a couple points, 28.8 to 28.5. After the initial balance of pressure it pulses to maintain. The pulse is so fast it isn't even noticeable you just start moving faster.

Funny thing is on the dyno we accidentally forgot to connect the main battery bank for one run, what this triggered was only the partial throttle pressure match. The run followed the stock line dead on until about 3500 rpm then it jumped 10 hp as it detected the lower pressure between the charger and the throttle body.

We didnt continue all the way to redline because we were trying to do a power run lol.

Somebody ship me a barrel of e85 and i'll buy exhaust and try it! lol

Even though Canada produces e85 we dont keep any for ourselves...

You know what, so far the system loves the heat. If was driving it around in 36-37C (98F) the other day at it was very happy.

Funny thing is all the highest power runs we have made were on the 3-4th consecutive run once the batteries are up to temp.

This is very cool tech @fenton. The driving vids are impressive for what it is. The battery bounces back pretty quick!
