If you think this car is slow...

Then quite honestly you aren't driving it right. The last few days I have been driving it hard. Harder than I have driven it so far.
There is no way this car can be considered slow.
I will admit 1st gear is kinda eh... But anything higher and it just flys along.
By the way my last car was a Ferrari and I genuinely am having more fun with this car.
Carry on fellow owners. And drive the piss out of your car.

What kind of Ferrari did you have?

My last car was a 500hp Supra and I agree this car can seem quite fast when driven on a lively winding road and around corners.

But when you need to overtake someone on a highway it can be a bit annoying having to almost redline it to get past.

i think the argument that it is slow is because it exists in an age where numbers and stat sheets are what sells cars and creates buzz. 300+ hp is the standard, when wanting to be drawn into magazine articles for comparison. if this car came out in 2000 instead of the toyota celica, it would have won even more accolades. not to take anything away from this car, but the people who judge this car by its numbers are the people who read stat sheets and number comparison charts in magazines and such.

this car is not blistering fast, but it is fast in its own right, and very nimble. the car is better appreciated behind the wheel, not from behind a keyboard or stat sheet.

Very true. I don't think the 'cafe racers' will really appreciate the car. But honestly I'm having way more fun in this car than I had in my Supra. i love being able to access the entire rev range while driving hard through twisties.

Getting back in my car after driving my wife's Prius for 4 days straight, the brz feels like a rocket ship, lol... it has more than adequate power and I find I easily exceed the speed limit very quickly if I keep my foot in it... In the twisty canyon roads, you can't really put the power down unless if it's an uphill climb and a relatively long straight section. Any downhill section, a more powerful car might be too dangerous to drive all out...

2013 Scion FR-S (Manual) 0-60 mph 6.2 Quarter Mile 14.5
2013 Subaru BRZ (Manual) 0-60 mph 6.1 Quarter Mile 14.6

*** This list isn't intended to be all inclusive, it's not the best or worst of any of these models, but most are within 1 sec 0-60 and 1.5mph in the quarter mile of the '86 triplets. The list is copypasta from this site. It's intended to stimulate thought about what performance in our cars means and matters.

So which of these cars are slow? Which are fast? Which were fun? How much did they cost at the time? How much would they have cost in 2013? Which are classics and why? Where does the '86 fall in this grouping or amongst any others?

I've read a lot of comments like this, and of course a lot of discussion on everyone's favorite torque dip. Personally, I enjoy driving cars that require high RPMs to get the full effect. Like my girlfriend's 2ZZ Corolla. VVTLI doesn't even kick in until like 7200 RPMs. So even at 7100 RPMs, you're not giving it enough!

Don't hold me to that, it might be more like 6800, but still. You get the idea.

I've test driven two FR-Ses, and they were both brand new, so I babied the hell out of them. And since I haven't gotten to drive my own yet, I still have no first hand experience with the "slowness." But when I read stuff like this, it just makes me more excited about it.

I dunno but I rather enjoy rev matching 3rd gear from 6th on the highway from ~60mph. Makes me feel all race car like and when I'm done I'm only doing 70-75. lol

Exactly. The noise adds to the sensation of speed, especially when it comes on all of a sudden like in a 6th to 3rd shift.

The fastest car I've owned was a 380awhp EVO IX that was capable of high 11s. I know what power is. But it's all pointless when I couldn't even use any of it majority of the time I was driving it. Power wise yes the BRZ/FRS isn't going to blow anybody's doors off. But it was never intended to. But I COULD agree with most that maybe it needs perhaps just about 20more hp or a little bit more low end torque. But otherwise it's more than enough for me too.
