XSA has a weight minimum, no idea how close I am to it tho But for real there is a bolt hole in the back part that was removed and that kind of weirds me out removing it.

I wondered about that! Usually there's a deeper mount point to better support the cantilevered load on the pulley. If that's the case, good call leaving it assembled.
