Tahoda has been a miserable failure with regards to the sales experience.
A few months ago, I decided to add an 86 to the garage as a full fat track slapper to replace another underpowered toyota engined car I had, so I started the rigmarole of calling at a few dealerships. The first was the tahoda dealer on corlett. The idiot sales person refused to help. He was dead set on refusing to listen to my needs; a white manual standard. Instead I got the usual toyota sales lies: No more 86 production for SA, I can only get the last danville orange auto (but not an auto, that was just a brochure mistake) till 2014. The automatic is not really an automatic. It is a racing sequential box with paddle shifters. Like the toyota f1 "resies karre". The only reason the 86 didn't win COTY, is because the cayman is a front wheel drive, and rear wheel drives can't win COTY. It was at this point I sighed, clucked my tongue at the box 'o lies and started walking away from him. This soured me completely on toyota. I decided not to buy new. I ended up buying a second hand model with less than 2k km on the clock for a lot less and the benefit? No tahoda "sales" experience. |

The black was traded in for a high spec. The white, is one of our demos, director's son. Says he's waiting for the drop-top (not even sure if that's coming) The silver was bought out, owner went for a GTI. Hth! Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2 |

So after some patience and advice regarding chasing dealers from this forum, I found my soon to be mine 86 relatively close to home. Almost ready to ink the deal and it occurred to me that this is the first car that I am buying where I haven't done the usual math around vehicle depreciation over time, trade-in value in year 2 etc. Now this might require a new thread, but what are the current views on the future value of this car? Is it falling at normal (Toyota) levels or is the used value disproportionately high due to low volume and higher demand?
Maybe its too soon to measure, but looking at 2nd hand deals on Autotrader, I notice that the high spec and auto hold good value while the Std version drops with mileage quite quickly. Thoughts? |

There seems to be more demand for Highs, and they recently had a price increase, STD's are still the same price as at launch.
There might be a price increase across the board sometime soon. |

There is a spec change however. Display touch screen audio std across the range (gone with the charming Hilux radio ). Moulded boot mat standard. Small boot spoiler & daytime led lights on high models. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2 |

Demand is indeed higher for HIGH. Supply & demand dictates price.

Does this mean we could bring our cars to the dealership to activate DRL?

@sav Apologies for the sketchy info. Yeah apparently its a smaller spoiler than the TRD. And the boot mat, is a moulded hard, assuming fabric covered type mat for the spare wheel.
