I'm not going to lie. It has been a LOT to take in. My suggestion, assuming you have OFT or are getting it, is to read everything you can by Steve99, then read as many posts as you can, then open up ROMRAIDER, and load all of the tunes you can into them and see the differences one by one.

There are calculations and Math that I am missing still and I don't even know where to start to look for them, but I am learning little by little. My first "tune" was actually to try to improve gas mileage and 3k torque dip. I ended up lowering the power pretty significantly, but my daily driver MPG (highway and street combined) was 35.6 mpg on 91 pump gas. That was +10 mpg over my normal.

Closest I've come to that while having any amount of power was with my exhaust leak... That was 28 and I was just afraid of the ultra-loud sound waking neighbors and getting me ticketed.

You can do this. If you spend the time to learn, you can do this.

VGI's utility.. makes it MUCH easier to do OL/CL maf scaling, load/IAT comp corrections... even mafV re-scaling

http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewt...p?f=32&t=10481

For instance, I have re-scaled my MAFV scale in addition to the g/rev call
@Kodename47 's tuning tools thread, which contains knock correction spreadsheet

as far as my own tuning, it's going well. I just have to address my tip in knock and start hammering down the load comp and IAT table revisions. After that I'm pretty much set until I bite the bullet on a turbo system (my wrx smokes this thing so far.. that has to change)

Hey, out of curiousity, how loud is your VVT? Even though mine is in "Great health", I am hearing what sounds like valve lash from 3500-4200 rpm since the OTS tune. I assumed it was normal, and when I asked about it it was confirmed as normal. But damn is it loud

I have that at certain loads over that range, too. It's normal AFAIK

The oft stage2 EL tune should be fine

2 things that upset off the shelf tunes are changed intakes ie complete new intake that changes maf scaling, drop in filters and intake tube generally ok.

Your fuel assuming you have 91/93 usa fuel or equlivant available.

Does anyone know if AUTOMATIC rev match downshift will be available for M/T with OFT at some point?

So does revving the engine up to 4k before releasing the clutch, but still launch control is included.

Any other takers?

Truly? They're gimmics, better to learn it properly yourself, and the absense of gimmics is why I like this car so much. It's pure.

Well, perhaps except for the ABS, TC and VSC but they're not gimmics, they keep you alive... and the latter two can be switched off in mere seconds.

Perfect blend of old school and some modernity.

I think it would be tough to program into a manual because it has no way of predetermining if you're shifting up or down when the clutch is pressed in...it also has no idea how long it will take you to select your gear and let the clutch out so I think it'll be damn near impossible to put it into an OFT (or any other, for that matter) tune for the 6MT.
