You can get one for $30k, but they are almost always auto.

I remember when you could get an American NSX for around 30k (2007ish). Unfortunately I was still in college and couldn't afford one then. Now I probably will never be able to justify spending +60k on one.

That's why I bought my MR2 turbo I guess.

Oh yes, I wish I could go back in time. NSX were dirty cheap around the time of the 08 recession. Some of the cheapest ones on NSXPrime were being listed for $20k-$25k. Around that time I passed on a rebuilt title red auto NSX with 120k for only $12k. At the time I just assume they were going to get cheaper over the years. Also my friend brought a roller with a blown motor for just $5k, so I thought $12k for a rebuilt NSX was a little high. If I had known that the prices were going to sky rocket I would have brought that one in a heartbeat. Same here, I can't see myself paying the prices that sellers are wanting.

The way of the car world. If I had kept most of my cars (pre 1980 ones) I could retire now.

Yikes, and here I was kicking myself for selling my stock 99 Integra GSR for $3500 last year.

Yeah, but the trick would be to make it last from 1982 to 2018. Involves storing it, and taking care of damage and wear items, and not putting miles on it, and probably repainting it, etc. It was only worth 500 in 1982 they are worth more now BECAUSE it is 2018.

BINGO!
It is wonderful to think "if only..." but there are many other considerations.

I don't understand the whole 911 thing. The bogo models are ubiquitous but still demand stupid prices... I have a conspiracy theory, involving car journalist. They suddenly start writing about cars that they have just acquired and bingo the prices start to creep north.

Only time I seen one in the wild it was parked at a Pep Boys. Go figure.
