There will be a curve on the BRZ, but I think it will slowly go up after time has passed.
You have to add the FRZ/86 numbers to that. There is not enough difference for one to go up and the other not. It is a mass produced car no matter how you twist the view and can not in any way be compared to the S2K.

Especially being as it’s not convertible. Just a coupe. ND compares closer to S2k than twins.

Completely agree! Why not at least moonroof? Funny people say they never use, I used mine all the time in my Mazda 6 I had, loved it. They surely could cut weight elsewhere with more aluminum like Miata.

I never ever used the moonroof in any car that had one. The reason why they didn't go with one is actually in that development brochure that I linked for you a while back. They did not want to loose rigidity and add weight that high up..

Same here on the moonroof, I've rarely used one in any of the cars I've had that had one. Usually they are just a good source for leaks for me since I keep cars long enough that the real issues with sunroofs show up.

Now if it was a Targa...…..

@Coachrhino11 if you look at the "bare bones" of the car you can see why it would be expensive to add a moonroof. There would have to be some major structural changes by creating a frame for the moonroof or any other type of removeable roof for that matter. (remember we are talking factory additions here, not 3rd party that don't have to worry about things like longevity, safety cages, crash test results)

There was a rumor floating around at one point that the chassis was originally engineered to be made directly into a convertible without much change, but it was never substantiated I don't believe.

When you look at how hefty the roof side structure is and how light the chassis appears especially from the B pillar back it is pretty difficult to believe that the car was originally designed for ease of a convertible. All there is at the waist line in the rear is that one light cross brace. If you didn't want the car twisting into a pretzel every time you launched there would have to be very major changes to the rear structure to go without that roof.

I would love me a moonroof! It's one of the things I truly miss having in the 86. All this talk of weight and rigidity is fine, but some features are worth it. I wish it were an option. I use my moonroof constantly during warmer months in my Integra. When the door windows are down you hear so much traffic, wind, and road noise. I almost never lower my driver side window in any car unless to enter a parking garage. The woosh of opposing traffic is irritating, if not earsplitting. The passenger side is better. But with a moonroof, it's almost silent. I can use it during highway speeds when it's cracked instead of wide open. I can then turn on the passive vent and a breeze flows through so I don't even need AC and save gas mileage. Then there are times I'm too close to a traffic light, and just look up instead of leaning way forward to crane my neck to see it. I always swore I'd never buy another car without a moonroof, but the 86 is just too good and I did it anyway.

I like the idea of T-Tops better (especially hyperblue!) but adding weight would defeat the purlose of this car IMHO. Maybe if it came turbo...

The one thing that would convince me to buy a new 86 would be a targa top, with louvers, just like the one above (except the color, I like it but I couldn't drive that every day)

Targa tops look cool, but the novelty quickly wears off IMO. Removing the top from my Del Sol turned into a chore.
