Am I slowing down?
Tom's LED Taillights came in. I just love the understated look. Different from OEM, but looks OEM. Love it. Perfecto for me Bought these from Guerrilla racing. They were most helpful over the phone with my questions. Shipped quick too! It come well packed. Has a great instruction manual, LED Relay for the turn signals, the pair of taillights. Let's go! What?
After the first day at The Driver's Edge, I noticed a hissing noise. My first instinct was fuuuuuuu I have an exhaust leak. The AFR reading on my Wideband was reading wrong as well. After debating the issue I decided I would just go track the car with the leak. At first I thought it was shoddy welding on the Borla header or a loose connection. That was last weekend. I finally got the car in the air to investigate what happened. I'm not at my normal station so I don't have my full photo developing facilities. Here is what I found..... Spending my 4th of July doing some father/son maintenance. Good to spend time with my pops 20130704-IndependenceDayMaintenance-001 by VictorN07, on Flickr He doesn't have the facilities for #RaceCar so I had to bring everything down. I took this after everything was done, I had more oil and whatnot. 20130704-IndependenceDayMaintenance-002 by VictorN07, on Flickr A bolt connecting the Front pipe to Overpipe was gone!!!! That gasket doesn't look all there. 20130704-JulyExhaustLeak-001 by VictorN07, on Flickr Another closeup 20130704-JulyExhaustLeak-002 by VictorN07, on Flickr Here is what is left of the graphite gasket I used. Note I drove 4 25 minute sessions at the track and commuted to work everyday. 20130704-JulyExhaustLeak-003 by VictorN07, on Flickr Not sure what went first, the gasket or the bolt. I dropped the front pipe to check to see if bits of the gasket destroyed the cat. The cat is okay! I was bullshitting with @PERRIN_Chris about the car, and mentioned the leak. I wanted to purchase a few more of those graphite gaskets just in case, but he said that it was better to use the OEM metal ones. He was kind enough to mail me two for free! What we call 4k definition service right there ladies and gentlemen. I replaced the gasket with the OEM metal one and everything is good as new. The Wideband gauge issue resolved itself. All is good! I will admit the car sounded amazing on the track with the leak. I had many people come up to me in the paddock complementing the noise. In the back of my mind i was thinking "You are complementing an exhaust leak haha"

Yowza! It looks like we may have over-torqued that nut a bit much. I don't know if you've had it off since we installed it but that looks like a bolt gave way, which opened the gap on that side and allowed exhaust gases to kill that side of the gasket.

Phastek Car Mods Sneak Peek
@Chris@Phastek has some stuff cooking at his garage. I'll make some general comments, but let him provide some more detail and thoughts on day to day use. First up we have the RK Sport Hood. I was chilling outside letting my engine cool before changing my oil. 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-001 by VictorN07, on Flickr It is a fiberglass hood with a functional air scoop. It came unpainted. It is heavier than the stock aluminium hood. 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-008 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-012 by VictorN07, on Flickr You can see where the scoop lets in air. Basically it dumps air on top of the Brake distributor. 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-033 by VictorN07, on Flickr You can see the fiberglass through the dump port 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-039 by VictorN07, on Flickr Next we have the Expel smoked headlight tint. 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-049 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-055 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20130628-RkSportHood_ExpelTint-063 by VictorN07, on Flickr That's all!

Quality is top spec. The fitment was good overall, I didn't notice anything that made me complain. I had several people follow me; haven't heard any complaints of light output. However I don't' think the turn signals shine bright enough in full on sunlight to be super visible. I think this is true of all LED bulbs vs the standard halogen though.

Yin Yang?
Met up a fellow local, @guarapo, to talk about cars over a coffee. He is the fourth person in Houston with the Vortech Supercharger kit. His car is very clean (Engine bay is spotless). He's going to build his car up for the track as well. I'm super excited to have more 86s on the track. It was great meeting you.
