Dude literally all you need is snow tires, it has nothing to do with this being rear wheel drive, and as soon as the tires are on it becomes a super predictable fun snow vehicle.

I am going to give you my advice without sugar coating anything. Winter tires are mandatory, don't even try getting through one winter without em. Was the worst mistake I made. Your car will not move in snow at all unless you get winters. On top of that, even with winter tires you will not be able to start from stop on an uphill in a snow storm. You need to either gain speed from flat or downhill roads first before hitting a hill, or turning around and avoiding hills entirely.

Then on top of that, the paint on this car is very thin and will chip easily from all the salt and crap that will get thrown on your car. The windshield is rather weak too. I now understand why the dealership was pushing for windshield protection.

If that does not discourage you from driving this in the winter then go for it. I went through one winter so far, but am strongly considering buying a cheap beater for next winter. But for me it's not because of the driving, but rather I don't want the car to be exposed to all the salt and rocks and crap that winter brings.

Here in SC, the only difference between winter driving and summer driving is that, during the winter, you don't burn your hands when grabbing the steering wheel after your car has been parked a few hours.

Spoken like a true Californian. Has your car ever seen snow? If not, take a seat and let the ones with experience talk.

As @Ultramaroon mentioned early on, snow tires are a must. As soon as you figure out how much gas to give it, it's all gravy. Biggest thing to worry about is getting it stuck because of too much snow underneath. There have been a handful of days since I bought the car in December 2014 that I opted to take my work truck over the car to run errands (rarely drive the car to work because I have a truck I don't pay for that work gave me, and I rack up about 1000km a week to commute to work).

Talking about winter driving just seems weird here in July in Texas. I have to admit though, that Killboy video did actually make me feel a little cooler for a few minutes, so, many kudos!

Watching him plow through the powder was so refreshing I had to put on a jacket.

Still FR-Sky your comment wasn't really helpful.....

Just wait a few more days - a massive long-term high currently centered over the plains is going to drive a week-long heat wave over much of N. America.

Can confirm, Canadian here.

With some Michelin XI3, it was a breeze. The only moment I'd be worried in the snow is if there's more than 4 inches on the roads.
The nannies will help you get used to the smooth inputs required when it's slippery.

Canadian also.
Don't let winter prevent you from getting this car. I had trouble-free driving over 3 years, including lots of winter highway driving and driving in freezing rain.

Get good winter tires (I had downsized 205/55R16 continental extreme wintercontact tires, which were great), and once u spent a bit of time learning how the car behaves in low friction (snowy parking lots), I drove with nannies off (more predictable power and braking).

One thing to keep in mind: if you live where salt is used on roads, invest in rust-proofing, and make sure to use antiseize on bolts (if you mod anything underbody).

I'm in Boston - is the salt really that bad around these parts for our cars?
