I checked it's true. It's just a new hose with a fancy jacket. Sorry. Looks cool though.

Incorrect. If it was just a standard hose with a stainless sleeve, they'd be thicker than a standard hose, which they aren't.

So your saying you're paying more money for a thinner hose with a shinny jacket? Come on bro.

Maybe it's because I grew up in the mid '90's and saw the whole ricer bs parts flood the market. One of thoese bs rice mods was the ss brake lines.
The other hand the hot rod guys just used them to chrome out everything. S.S. Jackets where the quick and easy way to get that look.

"But bro my brakes feel way better after new ss brake lines"
Yeah that's true. Because you changed out your worn ass xx year ones for brand new ones. Duh.

This is a good explanation of the merits of SS brake lines.

TL;DR - no change in braking forces, but pedal feel is more responsive and design is more abrasion-resistant.

Don't quality stainless lines use a teflon core rather than the plastic/rubber/polymer that factory lines use?

Could be? Then again you can always buy a upgrade hose and put ss jacket over it and call it a day.

Yes, it's totally ricer when F1, NASCAR, etc all use SS brake lines...

It's not a thinner hose, it's simply the Teflon liner with a braided SS support structure. SS braid is flexible, but won't allow swelling of the inner lining.

But yeah bro, let's all go back to solid rubber tires cause radial tires are rice cause you can get the same effect with more rubber man...

LOL, so that's where you get your thinking. There is a HUGE difference between that show braid crap that you slip over normal rubber hose and actual SS AN line.

Uh, dude.
It's all just a protective jacket.
NASCAR, F1, etc they use them because they are going way over 150+mph. They actually have something to protect. And FYI all those race cars get all the parts replaced on every race. Also NASCAR uses painted-on headlights too, are you going to suggest those are superior to traditional headlights?

On a BRZ/FRS any commuter car, it just looks cool. And they don't go 150+mph for hours on end.

The SS AN line is still just a protective jacket. Hell AN lines started the whole SS craze. It's all marketing b.s.

If they really wanted the SS line not to bend, they would never use a weave. A spiral collar loop would be better. But a SS weave looks soo much cooler.

Also they could simply mold the SS weave into the hose, but it will not look cool. And no one wants dull black hoses.

I'm sorry dude but that's really all SS lines are. Just a "protective" jacket. Now whether the manufacture uses a better inner hose, that's up to them.

You can always get a higher quality hose than OEM and slap a SS for .99 and call it a day.
