2017 Toyota 86 Daily Build

This is actually take two for one of these cars, after owning one for about 6 months last year, I unfortunately totaled it in an accident caused mostly by heavy rain, I bought the car back from insurance, mostly to rip all the mods off, part out whatever I could, and sell it to a family contact of mine, who makes a living buying wrecked cars and either rebuilding them or ripping them apart, much further than I am capable of doing.

So anyways, on November 26th last year, I totaled my first 86 after buying it in early June last year.

Going through insurance processes and getting the car in and out of the shop to get it inspected to see if it was repairable (it wasn't, at least not except for the price of a new car anyways), and to get mods off of it that required a lift, like the exhaust, made me hold onto the car for a couple months, but on February 28th, I picked up my new car! This time, I made sure to find one without the front plate, which was something I regretted not doing with the first one.

I picked it up at Toyota of Kirkland, a dealership where I know quite a few employees, as I work close by at the Kirkland Subaru dealership. I hunted this car down in Beaverton, Oregon, the only one in the area ("area" is a stretch), with no front plate drilled in this color, and of course, ToK was more than willing to work with me to get me that car, unfortunately, it had a few chips here and there on the front bumper, and the hood had a bit of what appeared to be sap damage, I was informed this car had sat at the other dealership for over a year!

Thankfully, they were able to cover me for a repaint on the affected parts of the car, and a couple weeks later, I picked up my car for real this time!

Immediately, I put all the mods I scavenged off the first car onto this one, that includes the TRD exhaust, the Subaru mirror, the license plate frame, and the polarized wide mirrors.

I was not able to remove the wing or the footwell lighting from the old car, but I did get another footwell kit from my Subaru dealership at cost, I think because they felt bad for me having to buy it again, because last time I got it for at cost + a little bit extra. The Perrin Inlet Hose was damaged when the car got totaled, as the impact from another car pushed it right into my drive belts and put a clean cut right through it, so I picked up another one of those as well. I didn't really care about the wing, because this time I want to pick up the Sard LSR Carbon Fiber wing, I much prefer the removable wing, this time I won't have to drill my trunk.

I picked up Helix Smoked side markers as well as OLM amber bulbs for the side markers and installed those as well.

So I got my Sard CF wing today! Put it on immediately, it was especially dead at the dealership so I had plenty of time to put it on, adjust the mounts and get them lined up, get the bracket extensions swapped, and then play with angle settings, although I settled on leaving it at the max setting.

Love this look so much! It's even better in person than it was in any picture.

No problem! To each his own, on the last car I got the 2017+ BRZ OE spoiler and, it looked nice, but I just wanted something taller, the Sard wing goes with the car pretty nicely, and it's clamp-on installation made it a safe bet, if I ended up not liking it, I could simply take it off with no damage to my trunk.

The wing looks a lot better when you add rear spats, diffuser, sideskirt extensions, and a front lip.

Last month I was messing around online looking at personalized license plates when I noticed that GT86 was free; it wasn't when I had gotten the car last year, so the fact that it was available in my state meant I had to get it, I was due for new tabs anyways in February so I hit two birds with one stone, got the plate I wanted and got new tabs.

It's the Law Enforcement Memorial / Behind the Badge Foundation one, some of the money gets donated to them, and I've heard having these makes police officers just a little bit nicer to you when you get pulled over, several of my friends have told me this.

And a close up of my unused front plate.
