Works for me, mine is Canadian model BTW.
Now when I armed the car and use my key to unlock the doors, the alarm goes off.

Guys, here's a question... If you touch the sensor and it locks, does it arm the alarm? Or do you have to physically press the "Lock" button on the Keyless Entry fob to arm it?

I think you might be right. If you hold the lock button on the key it makes the horn beep as well.

I hope everyone is correct in regards to the newest models, because the BRZ that I purchased last week does absolutely nothing when I follow the steps listed here. I've tried a dozen times, using both the physical flip lock and the lock button, but neither seem to have any effect.

Thanks, I didn't even know the car had a factory alarm. Activated successfully.

Also, don't forget to smash your finger in the door like me.

I purchased in October and mine was off. Just try the steps; worst case scenario, you get two beeps and you have to repeat to re-activate.

I just tried this with no luck. Is anyone else having trouble activating the alarm?

Just did this as well. My car was made in 02/2013, so it still does NOT come activated from the factory.

It took me a number of tries and it seemed I added a step. Not sure it if helped, but I held the unlock and the door handle(inside) for the 10 seconds.
