All good sir. You still have your East Bay runs that I would like to do daily during my lunch . Speaking of which, are you going tonight to Dublin? I got your stuff if you do.

Yes, did it a few times during the summers a few years ago with the my previous cars and bike. Luckily, the was the intent - to drive that road to get to Tahoe. Otherwise, I find it an overly long drive to get to Tahoe. Downhill biking is great in Tahoe. So fun to take a lift up and jam down. Broke a bike...rent theirs going forward.

That's an awesome road. Used to take hwy 4 from Stockton all the way to S. Tahoe with my wrx to go snowboarding back in college, when I had the time to take the "scenic" route. Careful on those narrow sections though, had a buddy actually flip his car one time heading down hill (slippery, hit a berm).

I think I might be able to stop by very quick (wife and I might be passing through heading back to Stockton). I'll text ya either way.

I thought that was the greatest idea the first time I did it (if you haven't met me, gravity and I...erm... don't get along very well). Took a gnarly spill one time and broke my arm (warning: don't borrow a custom bike if the owner is left handed, read: front & rear brakes are swapped )

Hehe it's a blast! Yeah, fit the bike before you head up. Glad ur okay. Make sure you ask the employees which route is for beginners. I borrowed a cannondale lefty...mind boggling. Couldn't wrap myself around a 1-sided fork. I cracked a helmet once...slow impact. After a few hours of rehabilitating myself, went back to the rental place and I was greeted with open arms and a couple extra benji's in my pocket. I think they got scared. I just wanted to go buy my own ff helmet. They gave me one free and the next day's ride was free too. Man I love ma 'n pa shops, gotta help the little guy too.

Don't laugh but here's Black Road with iphone in hand. The mount I have in the car for it is junk when it comes to filming. 2nd gear, right hand was already occupied. At the end of the video is Skyline, left side is where Bear Creek meets Skyline, right side is Skyline towards everywhere else. Bear Creek has the same characteristics as Black Road. 4:25.

Thanks for posting that up for others to see. It's my usual route whenever I head up to the Los Altos outdoor range.

I was getting carsick from watching that

I live in LG and Black Road is a better alternative to Skyline, to get up to the two lane Skyline blvd. Black is one lane for just a bit, and its much more manageable than Mines. I'll be driving out late tonight up on skyline, typical Friday night stuff, but I might be able to make it out to drive with you guys for a bit. I need to be in Fremont by 8:30 for Opti-coat so I've got about an hour I can burn.

On another note, I've got some friends of mine who I know will be cycling skyline north in the morning so don't hit any cute girls on their road bikes!

btw with the t-shirt poll now done, back to the business of driving... the previous poll about where to take the next DRIVE is still open until next Tuesday. Vote now or over the weekend if you haven't already, by clicking the logo link in my sig. The SF/Hwy 1 route is in the lead currently with 9 votes (50%), with Mt. Hamilton close behind in 2nd with 7 votes (39%).

Come on SF/HWY 1! I've been waiting for another drive close to me ever since that devil's slide drive. Not having to drive an hour to drive an hour to drive back an hour FTW!

Also, I'd like to add that the 86drive.com site is optimized for mobile, so don't be afraid to click over and vote or just check out the calendar of events if you're on your phone!
