Do you seriously consider this when buying a tire? If so, why?

its not a serious consideration, more of an observation/comment

and its not just the compound and feel, the tread width is something to consider too. The firehawk will look as stretched out as a stock primacy on an 8inch wheel. The bfgoodrich, while rated slightly lower should fill it out and look meaty according to tirerack measurements. I chose my tires with a 7.6in tread width. It's just about vertical on the sidewall.

Ah, Tirerack/Bridgestone upped the price on the Indy 500s, now I know why the other two are being considered from that test.

When I bought my set in OE size they were ~$86 each, now they're $103 each. I don't know General as a brand, but it looks like it's Conti so it should be ok, any of them will probably do just fine OP, don't think too hard about it.

GT Radial SX2 is also an option. Long life, good feedback, good turn in. They are basically slightly better then the Hankooks overall. SX2 are now rated a 260tw fwiw, not the 200tw listed on most webaites.

They are under $80 online at TireCrawler for oem size

You guys are making a good case about the Falkens vs the Firestones.

My biggest reason to look for something different than the V12s I have is the tread noise. From the tire rack review it sounds like the Falkens are the quietest of the group too.

Which hankook were you talking about ? I’m coming from the 17” rs4 for my dd and going bigger with 18s 265/35 sx2s. I hope I’m making a good call.

They are meh in the dry and crappy in the wet. I think they a popular more due to price vs performance. My car had them when I got it.

In this performance class the V12. The RS4 is a track day tire.

Im running evo front and evo 2 rear same size. Hankook says they improved the tire, but...

The evo has stiffer sidewall, is stickier, has 280AA vs 320AA, is blacker, and a similar tread design. (The evo2 looks grey, but the tread design looks newer/better - not that it really matters...)

I just went square. 18x9 with 245/35. After reviews, I may try the Indy 500s, or just bite the bullet and get the tires I want.... Michelins.

The Hankook V12 that OP mentioned. The SX2 will not be on thr same leve grip wise as the RS4. I switched from the RS3 to SX2 and it took me a track day or two to get used to thendifferent level of grip, but itll be just fine for a DD
