They're interchangeable. Not much on these cars isn't.

Correct. When installing a "crash bolt" the manual calls for placing a 14mm bolt in the 16mm top hole. This gives some wiggle room to adjust. The purpose is to correct alignment when it's out of spec from a crash, but obviously it has other uses. For eccentric (lobed) bolts, you can replace top or bottom depending on which size you get. Some are made for 16mm, some for 14mm.

If camber is maximized using the replacement bolt as shown in the video, does toe need to be re-zeroed?
And if yes can this for instance be accomplished with a simple wheel alignment gauge such as this? http://www.gunson.co.uk/item.aspx?item=1812 |

I can't really tell what all that product does, but the simplest toe adjustment tool is usually a plate up against each wheel with slots in the edges for you to instert a tape measure on each end (front/back) and measure for any difference between the two. Some guys just use string. Here's a set of toe plates: http://www.longacreracing.com/catalo...id=152&catid=5

[EDIT: so no, as expected, it is a "fat" bolt on top from stock. Best value for money mod so far, may I add.] Last edited by Guillaume; 02-18-2014 at 12:54 PM. |

Did this a couple days ago. In case anyone is curious, you will need a 19mm socket/wrench.

My BRZ came with 16mm top bolts and did not have 14mm bolts up top from the factory. I had to buy the 14mm camber bolts (which are same as bottom bolts).

After looking up some more information I came to the conclusion that the service manual does indeed suggest to replace the stock 16mm upper bolts by 14mm ones to get more camber. I think I understood now.
On a related subject, despite your problem with slotted holes (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=24), you do confirm that this mod is 100% OK on stock dampers, right? Last edited by Guillaume; 01-04-2014 at 04:33 AM. |

hey, this might be a stupid question, but I got the bolts ready and want to do this thing next week. My question is, do you reuse the nut from the original bolt? Since the old one is a 16 and the new one is a 14 this seems kinda weird to me but in the video it looked like they did reuse the old nut, if not what is the part number for it? :>
