Oil light blinks for 1-2 seconds when coming to a stop/complete stop
2014 Automatic with 75k miles.
Mods: Sprintex 210 SC Catless UEL Header Catless dual resonated front pipe 3" Moto East intake Moto East tune Weird situation. My oil indicator blinks slightly when I'm coming to a complete stop. It only happens when I'm coming to a stop. It doesn't happen when I'm idling in park, or during cold starts, ONLY when I'm slowing down to a stop. It goes away as soon as I drive again. Could this be a faulty sensor or is my engine on it's way out? I check the oil and it's still at the correct amount, not losing oil. Just wondering what you guys might think the problem is before I take it to the mechanic. |

Are you slowing down from 100MPH with full brake pedal pressure applied?
Are you slowing down from 8MPH with incredibly moderate brake pedal pressure applied? Have you pulled your oil pan to check the pickup for blockage? Have you thought about purchasing an oil pressure gauge to see the pressure of the oil in your engine? |

with an aftermarket tune the engine might not be dropping rpm slowly. watch the tack to see if the engine is cutting out for a split second.

Have not thought about pulling out the oil pan as I just changed the oil not too long ago but I guess I'll do that. |

Dam bro. Another issue?
I hope it's just a tune issue. I would just drive right back to your tuner to get it checked out.

Yeah...idk why. Nothing with the oil sensor was touched during the installation. It also seems like the oil lights come on after the engine gets a bit warmer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

First and foremost:
STOP DRIVING IT UNTIL YOU FIND OUT WHAT IS UP. It has been shown many times here that the oil pressure idiot light doesn't come on until the oil is at a dangerously low level. To continue driving it when it is even flickering is foolish.

Your traction control and abs lights are turned on and it didn’t appear you where slamming on the brakes to cause them to turn on so that is another issue, possibly related to oil light possibly not. Possibly a bad fuse, relay, or sensor could be causing those 3 issues. Maybe a bad ground or he removed a ground and didn’t put back on? I doubt it but it could have something to do with your brake booster “sapping” crankcase pressure reducing oil pressure. Possibly why factory uses hardline. Also need to ask, when was last time you changed your oil and filter? Are you sure you are reading the oil level correctly? On a flat surface when engine is cold should go off the lower of the two sides and at the bottom of the U in oil should be just at or barely under the full line. My oil temp still gets to temp (201 f). That should mean that the oil is at least flowing, right?
I would stop driving it but I HAVE to drive it to the mechanic. I live 30 miles from him and he specializes on 86's. Towing would be too expensive. It MIGHT be a sensor problem. I tried coming to a stop in neutral and the light doesn't come on.. only when I apply brakes. What are some parts that you guys suspect broke? Oil sensor, oil pump..what else? |

@kev0 I see that your ABS and TC light is also on. I had a broken ABS sensor once, and it put the car into limp mode- not only could I not rev much over 4000 rpm, any time I tried to come to a complete stop the car would nearly stall itself in this mode, even with the clutch in. I see you are in an AT but I imagine it would exhibit a similar behavior.
Are you experiencing any problems with limp mode? |
