Part time job my ass.

Sure there's a ton of nuance to this issue but to call the people in this union 'exam markers' is like calling F1 drivers 'commuters'.

Ya I oversimplified but still!
I am going to refrain from any comments or debate on this subject anyway as this really isn't the appropriate forum for this discussion and like I said earlier even I have my limits on how far I will push something.

I won't speculate if the protesters "started it" but it is clear that the BRZ owner threatened the strikers.

Also, I feel that my first post in this thread has been proven correct.

Sounds like you did voice your thoughts there...
It's also illegal to block a road. It's also illegal to damage persons property as that young lady did. The verbal assault was also being done by the protesters.

Sorry the protesters caused the issue by being where they should not have been.

They also did little to diffuse the problem they started and appeared to escalate a potentially dangerous situation.

Idiotic and illegal behavior on their part.

Also chase, if the students don't like it they can move to a country with no unions/strikes, no rights to protest or Freedoms of expression and little to no subsidized educational spheres where they won't have universities to go ballistic at. Or maybe one with a bylaw that restricts all this. And I'd love to see how their quality of life is

This is just as much a part of our country as the unlimited freedom of expression is to yours. Sorry you don't get our way of life.

Edit there is something they can do. And that's what everyone including myself has done is remain patient and leave to class early.
So you are basically saying that (in your country), an organized "MOB" could legally block the road and force drivers to PAY THEM to move all in the name of "protest".
Going from the video in question and my scenario above is only a tiny step

Or as long as you are carrying a protest sign, you can just walk down the middle of the road to get your point across?

Did you read any of my posts Stu?
I made the reality very clear.
If you just want to argue with Butera than carry on though.

Well I don't, since after 10 years in the military and owning rifles for 40 years I refuse to take the required hunter training and pay all the "permit" and "training" fees in order get a Firearms Acquisition Certificate that would allow me to buy one. I could operate an $200K armed vehicle and command a Navel vessel but since I won't take a 4 hour hunting course (I don't hunt) it is not safe for me to buy firearms.

If you took the course this coming weekend and passed it, you'd be able to legally shoot your own pistol at a gun range in July-August at the earliest, if you're lucky.

Ya! My son in law works at Colt Canada where they make the C7 assault rifles and they have started making the civilian version so he wanted to get one. He went through all the bull back in September and still has not received his cert!
I could live with the permit system but I did peace keeping (under fire) in Lebanon and the Sinai when in the Army and later left the reserves as a LCDR but can't own a weapon because I am not "trained"? I am sure there could have been an exception for such circumstances (and maybe there is now but too pissed to find out)
