New lurker saying hi, plus curious about weaklinks

Hey, how are ya guys?

Rogue Here, lurker, and while I don't have a BRZ yet, plan on getting one in either fall or winter.

Hope to be a frequent here, but also curious what parts to stock pile while I wait, what weak links to address off the bat.

Thanks for taking a look, have a good night!

Don't really know if there are any weak links, but most suggest an oil cooler if you drive hard.

Welcome,

Make a list if you want, but don't buy anything yet. Just enjoy the car as is.
Eventually you'll know what you want to change. I wanted an SC right away, 5 yrs later I'm glad I did not buy one. I do not even feel the torque did anymore.
Just read a lot, don't believe everything people write it's a great car right out of the box.
This advice has been given many times before by so many different people on this site....
Read, read, read, just so much great information here.
Oh, 1 more thing, read those links above...

Nice, which engine in the A4? You will be spending about 5K on this engine to get anywhere near the torque you had in the A4, regardless of which model you owned. Forced induction is a must for over 200 wtq

B7, aka 05.5-08, so Fsi I think

Right now, I'm in no rush for the power, still have to save up first, though also gotta get the throttle body for my Ram http://www.moes-performance.com/Moe_...87mm-tb-13.htm to go with the intake (Father's Day, sisters birthday)

How are the STI short shifters btw, in case I decide to order one

It's a short shifter, works well enough. Just stay away from the TRD short shift kit. Generally anything that you want to know can be found also in Google by searching "PART NAME brz issue" and you'll find threads referencing pros/cons.

Alright, so while it wasn't an option, no trd

Right now, about to see which exhausts are relatively drone free, the one thing about my Audi I can't stand, didn't realize FI would be so bad

If you eventually go with a turbo setup, you can get an external wastegate that bleeds pressure off through the dump tube instead into the exhaust. This frees up the need to have a large diameter exhaust to keep power up. There are several smaller 2.5" exhausts that are regarded as drone-free and quiet that would be applicable. I only have experience with the stock exhaust, which with a catless header and catless frontpipe, is more than loud enough without drone.
