Silviacrazed's FR-S adventure
I picked up a raven 2016 Scion FR-S on April 19, 2020. Car had just over 39k on it and it's some kind of weird dealership certified pre-owned since scion is now defunct. Either way, I have a 100k powertrain warranty.
I had been looking for something fun to drive for a while. I've tracked an R6 in the past and I currently beat the shit out of an suv for a living lol. My username is from my late teenage years of falling in love with the S15 Silvia. I had a lot of friends that were in the BMW tuning scene in the mid 2000s. Mostly E30/E36/E46 types. I also have a burning passion for 911's. I had been stuck with my wife's old 2008 Nissan Altima for the past couple of years. I had a 2009 MT Honda Accord Coupe that I loved, but it sadly was totaled when an old lady t-boned my passenger side. I started searching for an E60 M5, but a couple of weeks later someone hit the old truck my wife was driving. We went from three paid off cars to one. She was commuting ~100 miles a day at the time, so I had to shelve my ideas of a fun car and get her something to drive. She got a limited Explorer and I got the POS altima. Well a couple of years of itching for a toy, coupled with a track experience in a 911 GT3 and beating the hell out of chargers on a track for a week, had me foaming at the mouth for something new. I was considering a wide body 392 charger, but I couldn't swallow the payment and I wanted something I could track. I looked into 996 911's, but was wary of the motor concerns. I had known about the FR-S / BRZ for a while, but had never really considered picking one up. I found this one and decided to go test drive it. Ended up buying it that day. The plans for the car are a toy to drive on the street and track from time to time. I intend to do some cosmetic modifications to my individual taste, as well as performance oriented mods. I live about 20 minutes from Road Atlanta, so I definitely have a wonderful track to put it on. Within the first week I picked up Morimoto XB Headlights (the factory halogens are absolute garbage at night and even my wife told me to order new headlights) and a pair of 2017+ taillights. I'll attach pictures of what I've done thus far, and continue to update it as I go. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

I've thrown some LED bulbs in the front turn signals. I'm contemplating tinting them to match the Morimoto headlights. I also have a set of Morimoto XB fog lights that I'll be installing soon. I'm building my own wiring harnesses to connect into the factory points and I have the fog light switch / bezel out of 2017 Toyota 86. I'm also intending to wire up a rear fog light that activates with the fog light button. Hopefully the last pieces I need to get them in will be here by the end of the week and I can do it over the weekend.

E-brake boot from a BRZ. I hated that everything else had the red stitching, but the boot did not. Oddly enough, I don't like the red stitched e-brake handle in the BRZ.

I'm contemplating these gauges. I had thought about swapping in a 2017+ cluster, but I don't think I will.

Some future ideas I have are full N/A bolt-ons with an e85 tune. I've contemplated forced induction, but 1.) It's a lot of money up front and 2.) I still have my reservations of going FI on a car I want to track with stock internals. I intend to change the wheels, probably put a set of Bridgestone RE71R's on them, brakes and coil overs (I'm struggling not to do these soon just bc I can't stand the wheel gap, but I know others here recommend learning the limits of the stock suspension first). I have a lightweight flywheel coming and intend to do a full clutch job with an ACT clutch, new transmission mount and shift bushing, upgraded fork and throw out bearing as well as motul 300 in the tranny and diff. I'm also planning to remove the 40% tint the previous owner had put on and going with 5% all the way around. I plan on putting a Stillen rear trunk spoiler, some kind of front splitter and side skirts at some point. I'm currently working on creating functional vents from the BRZ fender garnish and cutting the fender (from the DIY) here. I'll do some kind of oil cooler, or the Jackson racing oil cooler/radiator combo at some points. It gets damn hot here in the summer.

Honestly I haven't gotten to really enjoy them. One had a small piece broken off inside the headlight, so I had to do a warranty return. My car is a little cock eyed at the moment while I'm waiting for a replacement. They look incredible in person. The instructions leave a bit to be desired. Once I have them both in and get to drive it a bit, I'll give a more in depth review.
