Yes, the power starts to flatten out at 7000-7200 and then tapers at 7500 depending on what type of fuel and how much timing is added. It is not wise to rev a motor past its powerband. We always set the rev limiter higher just to sample it on the dyno and then go back and set our limits.

We are working on some cams to test and hopefully make this thing breath past 7500 effortlessly.

A larger bore x stroke ratio would help achieve this. There are only a handful of squared motors that run to 8K rpms. The piston speeds get too fast too quick.

In fact, the only 3 engines that I'm aware of that run to 8K with a bore x stroke that isn't over squared (over 1:1 ratio) are:
- B18C (Honda - GSR) 81mm bore - 87mm stroke
- K20 (Honda - RSX/Civic Si) 86mm bore - 86mm stroke
- 2ZZ-GE (Toyota - Celica GTS/Lotus Elise/Exige) 82mm bore - 85 mm stroke

They all have very sophisticated head work with special camshaft/valve lift designs.

Car looks great man! I will be having some work done at Fullblown on Tuesday. You better convince me NOT to spend my tax money on a turbo kit...

Ugh, I already knew that, so no, it didnt help Glad to see your enjoying it and I look forward to more long term reviews. Do you daily drive this car? Im looking overall for long term. It will be drivin all year round, and in Minnesota, that means 90 degrees and humid in the summer, below zero digits during the winter peaks, and everyting in between. I don't have any doubt that they wouldn't produce a quality kit that wouldn't hold up.

I believe I have around 1300 miles since being turbo'd. The only reason why I haven't driven more is because I've been prepping the car to compete at a drag racing competition in MD. I did a lot of trading/selling/buying to accommodate the extra power. But honestly, it's a suitable daily driver. The only altering factor is your clutch selection. I hated my ACT 6 puck at first, but I got used to it.

Do you have another car? I mostly drive my WRX to keep the miles down on my FRS (the car is too damn enjoyable to drive...)

I do not. I use to have a Civic for a daily driver when I had my S2k, but part of my excuse to by a new car was to not have two cars anymore and go down to one, so the FRS will remain my daily. I have considered the clutch thing. LJ told me we would just keep the boost down to around 250-260 whp to make the stock clutch last as long as possible. But yet, I wouldn't want a clutch that would be annoying to drive daily. Excited to see what kind of times you can pull off at the track! Good luck!
