Theres a company in Perth that do the EcuTek tuning. Pretty expensive though. I'm installing a headerback exhaust, air intake and would like a tune afterwords. Was quoted 1500 for EcuTek license and tune. Still tempted because I would like a local tuner but looking at the states pricing I cant help but feel a bit hesitant.

if $1500 includes dyno time then I think it's not too bad.

The local shop here usually runs 150 an hour for dyno tunes, averaging 2-3 hours. Tack on cable and liscense and you start to hit that ballpark.

i guess you should ask the shop what's included.

if it's just licence + cable + loading a tune = $1500 then it's expensive. with dyno time then it's ok. not cheap but ok.

actually thinking a bit more, i don't think the price will include the cable. $1500 is more expensive than what the US owners will pay some something similar but that's the way it is here.

That shop lost my business when they released the YouTube video absolutely bagging out the 86 compared to the brz in regards to suspension tuning with no basis or factual data. There is no way I would give them a cent of my money particularly when online options are available.

Here is a link to their 86/BRZ Ecutek tune. At the very end where they list what's included in the XA power upgrade there is no mention of a cable.

I like how the price isn't mentioned once on there website.

If only we could just buy from the usa without them getting in striaf from MRT "reporting" them.

Do you all get hit with customs fees if you buy from here and have it shipped as 'car parts'?

No. Up to AU$1,000 is duty free so we don't have to pay the 10% GST we cop here either. Lots of us are now buying stuff from the US, it's just the freight that spoils some deals. Weight is the biggest consideration because mostly it's by air.

Mind sharing with us which place was this? Is it the one in Malaga? I doubt that price includes cable, but I think it does include dyno time if I'm not mistaken. Still expensive tho. Tune + license + cable + delivery = approx $900 from US vendors. With stg1 tunes on mild mods like intake & exhaust only I don't think you'd really need the dyno since vendor can do adjustments via logs anyway so not too bad.
