I did not say the video voids his warranty. That's exactly the type of drivers education track event I attend, and I don't consider my warranty voided. From my experience, if I do have a DI or other issue, I'm pretty confident Toyota will take care of it.

Ours is 100% stock and has never been modified. AFAIK, the ECU just uses flash memory; rewrites leave a pretty obvious trace.

Theyre misfires.

They sound like taps/pops in the video

Hey guys so i have a noob question. I just purchased my car all of 3 weeks ago and from day 1 ive been noticing a weird sound that arrise when the car is at approximately 2400 rmp in lower gears. This usually happens after the car comes to a complete stop but mostly when the car is in gears 1-3. The sound stops after 2700 rpm. I have been reading that people with fule injector issues have been noticing weird sounds at the same rmp range as me. Is there a good chance my cars fule injector is faulty.

Just to be clear, to me the sound is somewhat of a muffled engine note or a nocking sound. It just sounds like something is loose really.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Ok so: car is at 2400 rpm and it makes a sound, that is also noticeable when at a stop (presumably at the appropriate 600-800 rpm range). The sound stops when you are above 2700 rpm.

Take it to the dealer, your description is not accurate enough to diagnose. Say it's making a noise, can I show you? Jump in the car with a tech and drive it around (preferably with you driving).

Just brought my car into the dealer. I drove with them and showed them the issue. They said that they have never seen this before. My response was you guys have only sold 5 FRS in the past year to people who probably dont give a shit about their car so of course a low volume dealer hasnt seen it. They then took the car for six hours redrove it only to be unable to reproduce the sound. They told me that at this point nothing could be done, but they did open up a case with toyota about possible troubleshooting the issue. They should get back to me on monday. Ill tell you all what they say. Lets see if toyota knows what to do....

Is it just me or does it seem like there are a lot more posts from people who have this problem posted across the sub-forums than the poll results show ?

Does anybody have an idea how many cars which had this problem were using 91 as opposed to 93 pumpgas?

Both of these questions have already been answered.

1) Because you can't re-vote if you end up with a problem

2) Cars running both have the problem.

doesn't that kind of make the poll useless in determining how widespread the issue is (among this group)? i'd think that is the most useful knowledge that could be gained from a poll on the topic.
