Yeah, those don't look worn on the shoulder at all.

Maybe you guys aren't zooming in? There are tiny cracks forming on the shoulder. On previous tires, I'd generally get that once the tread was all nearly gone and the rubber aged

You’ve got plenty of tread left. There’s no blistering or separating of the tread....you’re fine. My MPSS looked way worse than those when I replaced them. They had about 12k on them at the time. I’ll post a picture of mine when they were balding and blistered for you to compare. You’re nowhere near that stage.

What has the temperature been like, soft compound and cold weather are not good bedfellows.

Your tires look good, these are outer edge wear

I had 225/45/17 MPSS on 17x8 wheels for almost 5 years. My tires shoulders looked exactly like yours, especially after my first track day. I guess the shoulder design/compound just wears not so pretty. It never seemed to go away nor get much worse and I had no issues with the tires otherwise.

Ok. So safe to say it's not caused by my 215 size tire on 17x8 tire stretch. Just how these wear.

Not sure if i'll stick with 215s or try 225s next time.

I see what's in that picture.
I agree it's aging rubber, I don't think it's a problem.

What is the build date of the tyres.

To me they look old and hard, or, have been used in cold climate, or, stored poorly.

On close inspection the cracks are prominent.

I "assume" the rubber has hardened due to age or climatic conditions.

That's a good thought, should check the manufacture date.

It generally doesnt get below 45 degrees where i live so can't imagine it's cold weather. It does get to a bit below freezing in the winter months in the north bay where my parents live but i'm not there more than a few times a year.

215/45 tires on 17x8-More Outer Wear?

Here's what i'm talking about. The tread in the middle has a lot of life left in it, and the inside does not have that kind of worn, cracked look. I run these at ~35 psi. Forgot to take a pic of the sidewall but you can kind of see some of that wear extend to the sidewall a bit, maybe they're rolling over and 35 psi is not enough.

Dude, your looks totally fine. Lol

Mine looked like drift tires at like 25k mile, there was no grove on the outer edge of tires.

You doing good, look like it will last longer then 30k miles. *mine didn’t
