Any HKS Legamax **Quad** Cat-back owners here?

Looking for more info on this exhaust.

I love how my Injen SES exhaust sounds, but there's just too much droning at around 3-4k RPM and its a bit too loud for my taste.

So far all the info I've found on the HKS Legamax Quad exhaust shows that its close to the stock exhaust in sound level, but has a nicer tone and is loud when you step on it. That is basically exactly what I want. I'm just trying to get more confirmation.

via searching, I've only found the following two threads with info:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=104590&page=5
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1872014

And only one user, @[YOYO] who posted some good youtube videos of his HKS with Tomei headers. If you're reading this, I have a question: I noticed that the exhaust has a bit of drone around 2K RPM in your free revving video, is that a constant droning if I cruise at 2K RPM? Is it just a drone as you decelerate past 2K? Did you ever have this exhaust before installing your headers?

@Torry@HKSUSA can you provide more info on this exhaust? I've seen sound level graphs for some other HKS products before that showed dB vs RPM. I haven't been able to find anything for this exhaust specifically. Also, any graphs of what the stock exhaust sounds like? EDIT: nvm, found the graph, but it only goes up to 3k RPM. Any info for the higher RPMs?

Hoping we have some more owners of this exhaust on the forums for me to bother

Hey! The video is not mine, it's just the same setup that I have, so posted it up for informational purposes. Also, the exhaust in those videos actually sounds louder and more pronounced thank it is in real life. Yes, I had the exhaust for a while before the header install, and it's essentially just as silent as the stock exhaust, with a nicer, deeper rumble, which is heard more on the outside of the vehicle than on the inside. Inside, it's essentially at stock sound levels. I was running this setup with a K&N drop in filter.

As for the setup with the header. The only time it really makes more significant noise is under harder acceleration / deceleration. I don't have any annoying drone at 2K RPM. It's actually an amazing setup for general driving / commuting. I have had cars with all sorts of exhaust setups in the past, and this one is by far and wide the easiest to live with. I get compliments on it all the time. The only time it's annoying is on cold start for about 30 seconds or so, but that's a given. You will not be disappointed or annoyed with this setup. It is really nice

Anyway, hope that helps. If you have any other questions, then let me know

No, unfortunately not as I just don't have any decent recording gear. There is absolutely no point in taking a video on my old iPhone 4 The sound would simply not translate. That being said, the exhaust is nice and quite, even with a header. If you go this route, I guarantee that you won't regret it

I asked HKS Japan for the rest of the graph on this exhaust and was informed it was proprietary information that they do not wish to share publicly. Sorry about that!

Damn, can they at least share what max dB is compared to stock? At this point I'm pretty set on this being my next upgrade. Just looking for more info.

Stock is 82 db, HKS is 86 db measured at close range. Max db is relative to where the mic is placed when measuring it, so it's an arbitrary number unless you define the way it's measured. But 82 to 86 gives you a good comparison.

To piggy back off this I was curious about the install. I know it comes with new exhaust cutouts and all of that and it looks like it screws in to the plastic piece that was already on the bumper. I assume the install is easy enough but I am curious if the JDM TRD exhaust cutouts would allow for fitment of this exhaust as I am not completely sold on the HKS cover.

anyone know if this fits frs because I saw somewhere says fits only zc6 which is brz chassis
But frs is zn6. Are they different in anyway (besides specific chassis code for brz and frs) like placement or mounting point?

Nope, FRS/BRZ/86 are all the exact same underneath

I still think Quad Legamax is one of the best sounding exhaust, can't go wrong with it. @PandaSPUR
