I didn't buy a new car to have it chirp like some POS with squeaking accessory belts. My pump replaced last week is already making noises after a couple hundred miles.

You could have saved yourself a lot of time by reading more pages in this thread. Taking it to the dealer to throw the same pump and o-ring installed won't change anything. Try taking it back with this new TSB that was released on May 8th for Subaru. Haven't seen one for Scion yet though.

I don't know why. It is very true though I went back and forth with the last two tanks and yeah it chirps then it doesn't. now when I take it in for an oil change should I take it in chirping or not? I've already had one pump switched out.

I'm not sure why but ethanol is the devil!

The "new" TSB has the exact same part numbers as the old one. The chirp will return...it's a fuel issue. Not a pump issue.

As with everything, it's a combination of fuel and pump. However, the pump should have been modified for the USA market, which means it should handle ethanol in gas. So that makes it a pump issue.

Could always just put in a superchager. The whine should drown out the chirping.

funny story with the chirping sound. my wife took our '13 FR-S to the toyota dealership to get the pump replaced/fixed. My wife (tiny japanese woman) was telling the mechanics what the issue was, she even turned the car on for them to hear the issue. They(4 different mechanics) gave her the run around for a good 30+ minutes until they finally said in a lower embarassed voice,"yeah, its the pump." The joy on my wifes face after these mechanics didnt listen to her was priceless. Parts needed to be ordered so hopefully that and better quality gas will resolve this issue.

You missed the revised wording of the change. So there is some hope.

I've already had mine fixed twice for the chirp and sure enough it came back with only 5000 miles. Did testing on 100 Octane w/ 0 ethanol and the chirp went away reverted back to 91 and the chirp came back. Will be doing testing soon on after market fuel pumps along with new lines and o-rings. I'm not gonna waste my time going back and forth to the dealer when the chirp comes back.

Kind of interesting, my chirp went away after many thousand miles and a handful of AutoX....it was gone completely for at least 8k miles but it just came back out of the blue. Wasn't driving the car particularly hard, wasn't hot out, wasn't on gas from a different station, nothing at all.
