Honestly I'm actually happy the second-gen will finally be getting a much-needed power bump. The styling itself... will take some getting used to. For me, the FR-S/pre-2017 86 is still number one for me.

Will I trade my current FR-S for one? Nah. I'll supercharge my first-gen before I trade to a second-gen. If my car ever gets totaled though, you bet I'll be looking at one of these.

Think the G-meter will be of any use this time around?

My expectations were definitely low after all the doom and gloom we had been hearing about development. Apart from the driving experience which remains to be seen, my biggest questions were torque and weight. So far it looks like Subaru did a good job with both. 184 @ 3700rpm sounds like nice midrange to pull out of corners, and keeping the weight around 2800lbs deserves a slow clap in a world of ballooning vehicles. It’s not the turbo car people clamor for, but it doesn’t appear to have betrayed the first gen. Besides it looks like Nissan is going to try and take care of the turbo crowd, fingers crossed that pans out to be a fun car too. Subaru has established what they want this car to be, an affordable lightweight sports car focused on handling. I think that’s fine and something we need in the market. I know I love mine. I hope the changes are enough for people to give it a chance again and that it sells.

Think that's similarly to how I feel. Won't be jumping into one any time soon in the coming years as I have other plans anyway. But if someone wants to wreck my car, I will likely be eyeing it up.

All & all I find the new updated look liveable if ever I would need a quick replacement but nothing really has WoW factor for me over the 17+ models.
But still happy I bought mine when I did.
Not sure about the dash, and looks to generic for a sports car.
Good they kept the toggle switches lined up business like.
The Start button location looks to beg knee pain on a long trip
A real manual handbrake on a 2022 vehicle what a great concept.

It will be a year before we are able to purchase, just enough time to get a feel on what the competition will have by then…

I actually like it too. Not the rear so much. But with a small drop, lip kit, and maybe a 17' esque spoiler and it will look great

Also, for those that brought up the small rear lip that sticks out at the rear wheel arches. Looks to be decent in its final form IMO.

the rear light and panel style reminds me a bit of the old Mitsubishi Japan FTO rear lights.

I get that they didn't fit a turbo to protect the Supra (despite saying it was for cost reasons, I dont buy it). However, I don't get why they couldn't make it a sexy looking car.

The rear is the biggest disappointment. From the side someone earlier mentioned there are accents from the RX8.. I see that too..

Subaru and Toyota clearly have one goal - to make it faster than the MX5. I suspect it might be.

However, if the 400Z is anywhere near how the prototype looks, there is no contest for me. The Nissan is sexier and faster but will be more money/ higher mpg.

What is curious is the Japs here have finally shown a clear lack of logic. These cars do not sell well generally and they will soon be pushed aside by electric. So they really needed to make this as sexy as possible and they didn't.

If the renders/spy photos end up correct, it will be a bit ironic now that the Toyota will have the mustache.
Yep, it’s not a massive deal breaker, but it’s just one those head scratchers.

I ultimately think the Toyota is going to be the better looking model this time around.

I'm the opposite, the rear looks fine. I think the front seems a little too busy for my tastes, but I wasn't a fan of the first-gen zenki BRZ either.

I hope that Toyota has a better looking grille for me.

Also, I'm betting you that the 205 HP FA20 will still be offered in the second-gen twins, but only in Japan, just so that customers don't have to pay the >2.0 tax there.

Tired watching a couple videos but damn are they annoying. A lot of them say things about the first platform that are not even correct and build things on the 2nd gen off those statements.
