Shift light for gt86
Hello, I have a Toyota GT86. My oem tachometer doesn't come with the shift light... Is there any possibility to install and adapt an external shift to it?
Can anybody explain how to it? Thanks |

I believe the shift light has to be turned on - at least it does on the US cars. Not sure about cars in other countries.

I'm also from Peru... and also own a red GT86. and from what I read we both have the same "cheaper" version. One of the major differences between the GTS86 (upscale version) and the regular GT version is in the instrument panel, our version doesnt have the digitial speedo which can be troublesome to read the analog speedo.
I installed a OBDII and connect my phone to it with bluetooth. Since I have an android phone I use the torque app, and also bought the racing meter skin, so I have my phone on the dash with it, I got a large digital speedometer and a shift light function active. |

Put the car in acc, push the disp button until you get to the 4th option (one the car won't cycle to if the ignition is on). Hold the disp button and it will go from off to on.
The car will now show you what gear you're in when the clutch isn't in, and a little arrow will appear next to the gear number to indicate shift time. |

yep, same in here the basic version also doesn't have the shift light, only the gear position and the arrow to indicate the economic shifting.
But listening to the sound and sneak peak at the RPM is more than enough for me. |

If you don't have a shift light don't worry too much about it. A general rule to follow for what I would call "normal driving" on flat and level surfaces would be to down shift when you get as low as 2,000 rpm's and to up shift when you get above 26-2,700 rpm's.
