Such tuner car. Many fun. Much satisfaction.

STI to BRZ huh? What made you go this route? I am actually thinking of switching to 2015 STI....just the self tuning opportunities?

How about the power decrease?

I don't miss it. The brz is tons more fun to drive & I actually get decent gas mileage (even with my foot out of it, it rarely saw 19 mpg & never saw 20mpg). Gas & insurance were killer, and I simply didn't have anywhere where I could really hit the fun factor with the STI.

The brz on the other hand is cheaper to insure & fuel & lots more fun to drive.

Miss the power? Naaaaaaaaah.

I'm on my phone so if I make mistakes, blame Sportsguy83

I've owned two previous STI cars as well (2004 and 2007). I love STI cars, really do... But, I love the "designed from the ground up sports car" that the BRZ is even more. The low center of gravity and the light weight of the BRZ at the cost point with the feel and fun factor of the car - it's really unbeatable in my opinion.

The only thing I like about the STI more are the power and the 4 doors (I have three kids). The power I definitely can live without when I drive my BRZ. Especially considering I am adding enough power to get it up to 235-240 chp with simple complete exhaust and tune. That's ~11.4 lbs per hp in the BRZ. In the STI stock ~11.4 lbs per hp so I don't feel like I'm really loosing anything in the BRZ with an easy $2K in modifications.

I have to admit the 4 doors on the STI is nice with kids, but I rarely take the kids in my BRZ. I also have a Honda Pilot family vehicle so that gets used for most family hauling events.

The insurance reduction & improved fuel efficiency of the BRZ is much nicer than the STI. If the STI was a weekend hooning, dirt, & racing vehicle it'd be great for me. But in that I have only one car & this it's my DD, the STI simply proved unsuitable financially.

On the dirt, the STI was stupid fun. Getting the tail out but under control was simply great.

That car loved driving dirty.

A well loved brz is driven hard but put up clean & shiny.

A well-loved sti is driven hard & put up caked in dirt & dust.

Just exhaust (overpipe, frontpipe, and catback) and ECU tune will give you that much power increase? I might go this route then with a few more suspension bolt-ons and I'll have a better handling car.

It varies by tuner and exact exhaust components, but in general, if you throw a header on that list it will. Yes, tune + header + OP + FP + catback will net you in the area of 220-230 at the crank (around 190-195 whp on a dynojet). With E85 that will easily be in the area of 235-245 at the crank (200-205 whp on a dynojet).

If you search on the OFT threads they (and other tuners too) are getting in the area of 200-205whp with just an UEL header + E85 + tune.

With the problems with electrical the british are notorious for having in their cars, I like the fact that they're using Toyota engines in the Lotuses (Loti? )

That they do. They have to partner with someone to do it. BMW collabo now.

What happened with the good old days of MR2's and Supra's? Or even AE86...oh wait, that's what our cars are
