I have a small rant for the s2ki crowd.
What is up with all the bad mouthing of the twins? I don't think anyone is really arguing that the twins are better than the s2k, but yet they act like the twins are infringing on them and they need to play the twins down as much as possible for some justification or something. Essentially the twins are what the s2k was in the past on a smaller scale. At the time the s2k was on sale there were tons of cars faster, cheaper, etc..., but you choose the s2k due to drivers feel that the other cars don't offer. So, why bash and state these hopped up hatchbacks are the cars to buy instead? I've always been a fan of drivers cars, cars that make handling their first priority (s2k, elise, cayman, twins, etc...). I've always looked favorably towards any of those cars because their priorities fit with my desires of what I want in a car. I understand drag racing fans looking down at the twins, since it doesn't align what they want in a car, but the s2k crowd, I just don't understand. Are they really that insecure that they have to down play or outright bash the twins at every turn? This is a generalization and I know there are several s2ki members that don't act that way, but they do seem to be the minority. |

You're exactly right. It's a defense mechanism for those that feel threatened by the FRS/BRZ. IMO, just because another car came along doesn't make the s2k any less than it is. OT, I sure miss my track s2k.

When are you gonna buy my BRZ? I guarantee the motor won't blow within the first 10 miles of driving it.

Had to quote this because my only crap can racing experience was in a couple buddy's 80's Mustang 4 cylinder where after about 4 laps the ECU would start turning down the rev limiter to the point we couldn't rev the motor at all anymore, but a quick flick of the kill switch to reset the ECU on a straight and we were back in business for another 4 laps. Unfortunetly, it took us the entire 8 hour race on Saturday to figure that out. I blamed it on them thinking that removing many engine sensors and "uneccessary wiring" was a good idea for weight savings. I told them reliablility and predictability are way more important in endurance racing than performance.

We didn't remove any wiring for awhile. I eventually depin'd the fuse box and engine harnesses on stuff that 100% wasn't needed after a year or so (150+ hours of racing with it disconnected).

Yes surely a mild FI kitted S2k could blow past 200k miles. Who knows a mild FI kitted FA20 may last 200k miles, I think it depends on how long you drove around on the incomplete/debotchery A00C calibration . That takes years off the life of your FA20 like smoking 5 packs of malbaro red a day .

200k? I still have my doubts the FA20 won't suffer the same head gasket woes that Subaru boxers have made famous.

That's one thing I'm optimistic about with the FA20. By now the EJ series release was littered with posts on blown headgaskets. 2 years was when they really showed up. The open deck block/head interphase was designed for turbo application (FA20T) and in general Subaru turbo engines do better wrt headgaskets. we shall see.

I'd still bet I can get 200k miles out of a 400hp F2xC
