Dremel 4000

Thought it would be a good idea to pick up a Dremel.. always a handy too to have.

I used my friends one about 2 weeks ago, and today I decided I had better tidy/clean up my 'speed holes' on the front bumper.
Originally I was going to cut out the Toyota/Scion badge, but upon further inspection/measurement.. it is better to cut away at the flat vertical part of the bumper like so:

The height of the holes is perfect for getting cooler air into the HKS Cold Air Intake, plus the HKS is situated about 1-1.5inches higher than the holes so there is a very very low chance for water coming into the air box.

As you can see, the 'speed holes' need a bit of final finishing, I'll be filing the bottoms flat with a file and getting some proper mesh to cover the holes with, painted satin black of course.

I also changed back to my STOCK AIR BOX, however I'm using an AVO Filter(non oiled) and the PERRIN Silicone Intake Tube. Both wrapped up with Reflect-A-Gold Heat Wrap.

Anyway, have a look at the mishimoto induction hose engineering report. I was surprised that resonator actually did something.

4 resonators on the intake side. 2 small ones on the snorkel. 1 directly adjaced to the stock air box, and one hanging off a pipe connected to the system. Snorkels are meant to reduce induction noise while the other two are meant to reduce turbulence - no point having them since the HKS CAI negates that.

Misimoto looks very good but overpriced compared to PERRIN for what your getting, and it doesn't have that contoured bend like the PERRIN does.

It was just to look at the engineering report, wasn't telling you to go for it. A lot of what we thought of the intake has not worked well, would be interested to see how you go.

Oh yeah, I just checked that. Pretty weird they actually GAINED hp by keeping the resonator tube attached... hmm I could always try that next time I get dynoed, its not that hard to shove it back in.

CAMS L2S and ABE F/E

Received my CAMS license sometime last week, totally forgot to make an update in my online diary/journal for my car. Also I bought a small 1kg ABE CAMS compliant 1A:20B:E fire extinguisher for that too.

Ordered another 2kg fire extinguisher off eBay.

@jonbatz01: I'm going to use the stock intake box atm. My reasoning is that the Griffon still retains the stock intake box so it wouldn't hurt to re-use it. Plus the fact I want to stick preferably to a non-oiled filter(TRD USA panel filter is oiled) - AVO Filter.

@Hawk77FT: around 3-5deg drop in intake temperature. I'm contemplating wrapping up the throttle body as well as that get's damn hot, not too sure it would make much difference though, but I got about 3-4 feet left of a 2inch roll so might as well.

@s2d4: Looking at the Griffon engine back, I've noticed they've omitted the OEM resonator that's connected adjacent to the air box.

I like the oil dipstick spring as well.

Need to update/upgrade my insurance policy.

In light of some recent events. I believe it will be advisable for me to update my insurance soonish. Spent yesterday and today going through this years past purchases. Here's a screen cap to anyone who's interested. Might be useful as I'm always getting PM's on where I got this.. where I got that.. how much you pay for this.. etc. Also bought a goody or two today, you'll see on the screencap at any rate.
