Opinions on HKS Quality? Specifically the Front pipe.

Anyone know anything about HKS' quality? Have a friend who said his front pipe cracked twice and once with his buddy's FP.

I'm concerned because I'm thinking about picking up their Front pipe (catless & dual resonated) but these comments are scaring me. I can't really go with any other manufacturer because HKS is the only one that makes FP that fits Auto tranny. Any opinions? Thanks

I have HKS's "R-spec" front pipe (catted & muffled). While I'll gladly admit their welds don't look pretty, my inspection did not make me believe they were defective. My front pipe seems to be holding up just fine and I've had it on for quite some time now. I haven't noticed any cracks and the tone hasn't led me to believe there is a leak from any cracks. I cannot comment on their dual resonated pipe since I wanted a cat for at a little friendliness to the environment and sound. Then again, I haven't heard much at all of their exhaust bits cracking.

The HKS stuff ive used does have some thick welds, but never had a problem with them. I would consider most HKS stuff midrange to upper midrange. Ive had the DR FP, and HKS legamax catback. Ive sold both but I still miss the sound of the catback compared to my current Borla.

My front pipe cracked and split. Same thing happened to my friend's. HKS did offer to inspect it and replace, but I had it fixed for less than shipping.

Had it welded back up. Was told it looked like too much heat when manufactured. Haven't had an issue after having it fixed.

I did make the mount from the front pipe to transmission, flexible, though. In case that was contributing to the stress.
