A competently dead or dying one yes. The ecu gets it's power from the battery. When the ecu doesn't get enough juice, there's not enough power to send spark. So instead of causing a misfire (do to a weak spark) it would just shut down.

Why? Cause the spark plugs can't get any more juice to fire ...... Of course, the exception is, if the ignition is powered by a magneto. Don’t rely on that, unless you have a hand crank under the seat ……. humfrz ...... ...... finish your cup of coco and go to bed. |

Haha thx guys... That's good to know. Thankfully, my car has had no problems cranking and runs fine except for those very rare instances.

Perhaps you just turned it off for no reason? I mean honestly you seem to have forgotten more about this event then you remember so you never know.
