FRS Sales tax issue HELP!

I recieved my titling info from the dealer via the mail today on my 2 week old FRS when doing all the paperwork ( on camera) I asked the salesmen multiple times if I paid taxes on the full amount or the amount between my trade in and my new car which was ($8700) they told me multiple times on video I pay it on the difference so I went to pay taxes and license my new car today and was told I will be paying taxes on ($25k) and some change and that the dealer must have messed the paperwork up so I went to the dealer and was told oh no sorry the paperwork is correct you don't get a tax credit on your trade because it was a lease I was told multiple times in camera that I would and they knew my trade in was a lease so now I am $1700 short on taxes and its due 6/3/13 and there is no way for me to pay this I also do not feel that I should have to because I was deceived and lied to about it is there anything that I can do about this or am I just going to have to suck it up pay the late fees and save up for a bit to pay this large unexpected sum of money

Call DMV and tell them to call your car dealership.

If its a mistake you shouldn't be paying for it.

There was no mistake on the paperwork the mistake was made by the dealer telling me multiple times ( on camera) as we went over all the terms the payments tax etc that I would be paying taxes on the difference between my trade in which he knew was a lease and the new vehicle

Sorry man, if you don't have it in writing then the dealer won't be any help. Verbal agreements don't mean anything to the DMV or the dealership for that matter. Best just pay the late fees and start saving up.

congrats on the car tho....

Besides, what's the point of video evidence if your not even going to use it. Better get out there and fight for it.

If you can't afford $1700, you really shouldn't be owning a new car. Honestly...it might have been a dealer error, but the fact that you don't have a nickel to your name in order to make things straight, is pretty scary.

Sounds like you screwed you.

Most financially sound people do have access to that amount of cash, sorry to say. I never said what the dealer did was your fault, all I am saying is that if you are in a position to purchase a brand new car you should also be in a position to get yourself out of a small financial predicament.
