I looked up nameless... I like that it has a HFC versus borla... I wonder if they're slightly 'muffled' compared to borla since I don't want my car to be ridiculously loud... But I didn't find any videos of a brz/frs.

Wanted to poll you all regarding my hunt for new wheels. I already upgraded to Michelin SS 215/45, very sticky thus far. I will be going coil overs in the near future, so I dont want to play with weird/crazy wheel offsets and spacers, etc.

So...I want to stick to 17 for wheels. Anyone got thoughts on running my current tires on 17x7 versus 17x7.5. There seems to be more options/high end companies in the 17x7.5 range. It seems with a quick google search, 215/45 will fit either fine and without too much stretch.

Obviously, the OZ Alleggerita HLT are looking awesome (17x7.5) and pricey. But, tirerack has some Motegi that look decent 17x7) and affordable. Anyone know anything about Motegi, is it the old you get what you pay for?

Some pics from today's Autox at Retama

At today's SASCA autox meet at Retama, Ranatsu, Ricepuddin, MmmDieselFumes and Aaronosaurus participated. Only shot video of Ranatsu's BRZ and Ricepuddin's FR-S as I arrived late and missed the first heat. Posted some pics at this link: http://smu.gs/15ooAxl Enjoy! (I'll get some video up in a day or two.)

Hey, @BAS ! I understand your criteria to be: 1. Your new 215/45-17 SuperSports (7.7” tread width), 2. Look = Decent, Awesome, 3. Affordable, 4. No weird/crazy offsets.

Are you after the spoke type look or a Euro mesh design? Also, is wheel weight important to you? I’m not a wheel xpert but, have been eyeballing wheels lately myself and trying to educate myself!

From what you have asked, I’d go with a 17 x 7.5 or even a 17 x 8 for sure. .3 is an acceptable “stretch” for those new Michelins and later on you could go to a 225 tire if you want.

Personally, I’m looking for a little more poke to bring the tire/wheel edge outwards (close to flush) to the fender. I like the “look” of an 18” wheel but, am also wanting a set-up that will be lighter or equal to stock weight. I find that I have good taste really liking wheels in the $2400 - $2800 range but, that’s not affordable!!! There are less expensive wheels (made in China ??) with dual bolt patterns (XXR comes to mind) that are tempting but, not so sure I would be happy with them in the long run – yeah, you do get what you pay for.

I’m really wanting these BBS CH-R for my SWP BRZ:

These are expensive (Tirerack = $2340 for a set of 4-18x8) and they are a bit heavy (20.9 lbs. ea compared to stock @ 20.1) but, I dig the look.

A more affordable solution would be a lighter, less expensive knock off from TSW ($250-$260 each range or less? – haven’t really shopped around yet). The Nurburgring Rotary Forged gunmetal w/mirror cut face. 17x8 weighs in approx. at 17.95 and 18x8 @ 18.6 lbs.

Not bad, but, don't care for the way the silver center caps look on this WRB with the bronze wheels.

Decisions, decisions. Good luck with making yours!!!!

What do you all think about drop in filters using oil? Would this mess with the MAF in any way?

If you reoil it with too much you can gunk up the MAF, but you can always remove and clean the maf.

I have been using the TRD Drop-In Oiled Filter without problems. It seems that most of the cold air intakes that are manufactured by TRD and sold at Toyota/Scion dealerships use oiled filters. Not that I think TRD is the best option by ANY means (NOT the cheapest), if they will put them in their own cars...
