Here's a shop tour of the Fortune Auto facility.

@Tcoat Host of this video speaks Canadian well; hope that helps.

I can't help myself if we're going to talk about Multimatic.

In 2000 Multimatic Motorsports won their class in the Le Mans 24. Since then pretty much the entire field of prototype race cars in the WEC use Multimatic DSSV dampers.

In Formula 1 Red Bull used Multimatic dampers and won 4 drivers championship titles in a row. Mclaren also a customer.

In IMSA the Mazda prototype is using a Multimatic chassis.

In GTLM/GTE Multimatic is heavily involved in the Ford GT race program. Multimatic builds the Ford GT in Markham Canada. Needless to say the Ford GT race and road cars use DSSV dampers.

In GT3 the AMG GT GT3 runs DSSV and Multimatic manages the AMG spares program at races.

In GT4 Multimatic builds the Mustang GT4 race cars.

Mazda MX-5 Cup switched from Penske dampers to DSSV when the ND MX-5 came out.

IMO they're a beacon of Canadian excellence and engineering. Right up there with Magna and exceeding them in terms of motorsports.

Now talk about their carbon/monocoque work.

I think the results speak for themselves. If you follow time-attack you should know who Will Au-Yeung is and that he's sponsored by FA.

Going to Japan and beating the Japanese...HKS no less

Will can be fast on anything, and World Time Attack, although hugely exciting, and Will is my boy, is ameteure bush league racing.
I often wonder how fast he'd be with an unlimited budget.

That's exactly the point I'm making. He's some privateer guy with a limited budget (like most time attack guys) going up against and beating a highly regarded Japanese tuning company who built a car specifically to beat the FWD Tsukuba record. Plus he beat the HKS record by over two seconds. On a track like Tsukuba, that's light years ahead.

EDIT: I guess what I'm getting at is even though something's Japanese or made by a Japanese company, it doesn't make it better than anything else

Most people forget that Japanese companies based operations on the west coast primarily because back in the 1970s and 1980s planes only flew as far as Hawaii or LA/SF on a single flight. Their US HQ were based here for convenience.

Now, nonstop flights from anywhere in the US to Asia is SOP, so there was no longer a motivation to have it based on the west coast. Plus, with most of the manufacturing spread out all over the continental US, a HQ in the middle somewhere makes more sense if you want to do business.

That's like saying I totally would have went for the Ferrari but then I want to support my local Honda dealer

Just based on this post alone, I'd say you have no idea what you are talking about.

As someone who worked at 5Zigen from 1999 to 2005, you have no idea what it means to "own" a wheel design versus contract work.

5Zigen never truly owned the mold to that wheel. The factory that made it for them in Taiwan gave them exclusive rights to that mold as long as contractual obligations were met. After ~2006 the market started drying up for these types of wheels so the contract basically ended, and other companies came onto the market buying from that same factory with different logos.

The rest of the stuff you've posted in this thread shows how easily good marketing can influence end user buying decision. Many posts from you show a lack of understanding of the difference between a brand (that outsources), a brand (that produces its own products), an official/exclusive importer, and a distributor.

No sir. I'm a jdm fan boy but a huge hater of so many trends:
New driver symbol
Roof racks
Canibeat, illest, supreme. Etc. Stickers
Sticker bombing
Ig handle decal
"Jdm" tow hooks
Rocket bunny flares
Liberty walk flares
Chasis mount wings (most cases)
Camo wraps
Catch phrase stickers "twerk it, send nudes" etc.
Long spiked lug nuts

I'm sure there is more but can't think of anymore

A self proclaimed JDM fanboi, that doesn't actually know what JDM means. Imagine my shock.
Guess what. Something can be produced for the Japanese Domestic Market outside of Japan, just like USDM cars can be made in Japan and send to the US.

You do know tow hooks are functional for the track, right? They aren’t a style item, except for people who decided they wanted to look like they track.

Also roof racks are widely functional for anyone who DD’s their car and also likes the great outdoors, which is why you see them on so many WRX’s. Race it at the track and take it on a camping trip.

I learned something new though - even tow hooks are “JDM”!

Chassis-mounted wings - also functional.

On a completely different note, you do realize Supreme is an NYC-based company, right? It has absolutely, literally, nothing to do with “JDM”.
