Porsche 930 cv's?

I tried to but didn't come up with anything for this, maybe someone else knows.

While researching some stuff on our axles, searching for a suitable replacement CV joint I noticed that our CV's are 108mm outside diameter. Same as a Porsche 930. I don't know what the bolt circle is on an FRS CV however this information is readily attainable for the Porsche parts.

On some of the other chassis I've worked on a 930 CV is a standard upgrade as the spline count of the shaft itself was shared as well as the bolt circle of the joint. Has anyone tried this on one of the twin's axles yet?

I see some major benefits in this if it does work in that it has potential to be a cheap alternative to the $900 DSS axles.

The majority of axle failures I have seen to date are cracked bearing cages that allow the balls to slip out of their slots and the joint to fail. This is either from wheel hop, being too low, or the impact forces from racing the car.

The 930 axle is an improvement in the fact that it allows for 28 degrees of misalignment in the joint whereas I believe ours is only good for 20 so this will help the super low guys or guys squatting hard at the track. Porsche also spent a crap ton of money in the late 70's and early 80's designing a CV joint to hold up to the brutal power of a turbo flat 6 compared to our stout, but little FA20.

TLDR - Has anyone tried Porsche 930 CV joints? If not does anyone have a spare axle laying around to measure spline diameter, spline count of the shaft itself as well as the CV joint bolt circle diameter.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't DSS use Porsche 108mm inners already? Also I know the inners on our cars aren't a flange style axle it's just a c clip style like a fwd inner.

I had not a clue that DSS uses porsche outer CV's in our applications. I also should have spent more time looking at the motoiq pics or when I was under the car the other day and should have realized it's a simplified inner CV without separate sub axles coming out of the diff. I just transfered from the Pontiac GTO/Holden Monaro world where they had stub shafts and everything bolted together.

So, it seems as though even if you upgrade to the 930 outers you're still stuck with the OEM inners, which can probably be heat treated, with an upgraded cage installed from some other application... Surely our designs aren't 100% unique, that would mean Toyobaru would have to invest an outrageous amount of money into manufacturing of the axles alone.

Also, @Dipstik-sportech and I can't be the only ones on here thinking about this. Surely someone else has input even if its "y'all fools be trippin bout not a problem"

I believe they use the 930's on the inners and a 300m specific outer but it's the inner one that's been breaking anyways I think.

It's not a complete 930 inner, Porsche axles have a flange that bolts to the outdrive cups on the gearbox (just like VW's, etc).

It could possibly be using the inner parts, but it's not just a direct swap.

Yeah and so do the DSS ones, they convert them to the stub axle style
