On a warm day, I've seen 250F just from driving spiritedly on the street.

195-205 on the street. It likes to stay in equillibrium with coolant temps which are 195 ish.

With ambient temps of 60F: 215F after doing 20 or so 3rd gear WOT pulls to collect logs (with maybe 1 min cool down time in between each).

Robispec cooling system.

It's absolutely incredible how this radiator/oil cooler combo works. I've pushed my car REALLY hard and see similar results.

I assume a lot of you guys went with the Exedy Stg 1 clutch/lightweight flywheel that ptuning recommends...

Did you notice significant increase in NVH (noise vibration and harshness) transferred to the cabin? It is very very prominent upon deceleration with the transmission engaged. Seems to be worse right around 3k.

I am thinking about uninstalling my whiteline diff bushing inserts to cut down on this NVH.

any lightweight flywheel is going to rattle like hell, particularly in the situation you describe and even worse at idle with the a/c on. i've yet to see one that didnt.

You need to get an oil cooler soon.

I know Pat asked me to chime in on further details of our oil cooler system. I have some time to do that today. Just give me about 30 minutes or so, since I'll need to write it up first LOL.

My only question is if it will have provisioning for an oil temperature/pressure sensor for a gauge. Thanks!

I'll see if I can ask MrC to develop an optional oil temp sensor adapter.

As you all know our PTUNING Oil Cooler System features an oil/water Laminova core. There is nothing unusual about our turbo set-up that would have prevented us from developing a simple air/oil cooler system like others have done. In fact, we use conventional air/oil coolers on our other turbo setups (S2000, tC). The only reason we opted not to go this route on the FT86 is because of the engine/bodylayout. This car has a very small frontal opening in addition to a short front bumper overhang.

A regular air/oil cooler system either needs to block the intercooler or go between the intercooler and condensor. Either way it ultimately ends up blocking the radiator, which is a big deal on this car, since the frontal opening on the bumper cover is rather small to being with.

The other option would be to place an air/oil cooler in the fenderwell in front of either wheel. The problem we saw with this was, due to the short bumper overhang, fitment was very tight and it is difficult to direct much air from the frontal opening off to the side and into the cooler. Furthermore, it requires swiss cheesing your fender liner in order to obtain proper air flow through the cooler. Sure, it's possible to cut a giant opening in the fog light opening to direct air to the cooler, but not everyone will be okay with modding their front bumper cover like this. Also, we wanted to keep both sides of the bumperwell area open for future development of a brake duct system for customers looking to seriously track their cars. It's also why we tucked our WMI pump and washer reservoir into the cubby hole under the factory bumper beam supports.

Now, on to our oil/water cooler system. We developed a custom bracket system to allow our Laminova cooler to bolt to exising holes in the chassis so that no drilling is required (easier said than done LOL). We also positioned it in a way to allow us to run the shortest possible oil cooler lines from the engine to the oil cooler as well. Between the very short oil lines and the inherent free flowing laminar fin design within the Laminova core, overworking the oil pump and/or oil pressure drop will not be a concern.

Unlike some other implementations of the Laminova core, we do not depend on fittings welded to either side of the radiator end tanks to provide water cooling to the core. This method is definitely not very efficient since the amount of coolant flowing through the core will be minimal. In addition, the hot coolant that has not had a chance to pass through the radiator is being used to cool the oil.

Our design uses the full flow of coolant exiting the lower radiator hose AFTER it has been cooled down by the radiator. Doing this requires us to mold custom silicon hoses though. Our unique hose routing ensures that the engine is allowed plenty of freedom of movement without putting any strain on the lower radiator hose.

Lastly, the design of the Laminova core allows for full, unimpeded flow of coolant through its core. You will not be putting any additional strain on the factory water pump by running the engine coolant in line with the Laminova core.

Hope this explanation helps.
