they use a different method of rating the octane than we do in North America/USA.

95 RON is the equivalent to our 91 (R+M/2)

OP, very nice gains! Congrats!

I see. Well the peak numbers are certainly nice, just need to work on that dip and flatten out that AFR curve.

He stated in the original post it was 98 RON fuel, so roughly 93 octane.

Great numbers over your baseline. Just curious if you did more than one baseline pull or did an ECU reset?

I didn't even see that! Just replied to the other reply. Thanks for pointing that out!

We did multiple pulls after the final tune...all came out 180+ each time. Very consistent & repeatable.

Gas is indeed 98 RON which is roughly 93 octane. No cool downs & no ECU reset besides what we did for the reflashing process itself.

Yep, weather around here is good this time of year. Mid-high 20s (Celsius) during the day, sea level.

Further mods aren't out of the question but I don't know if I'll see similar incremental gains with more bolt ons and a retune. Guessing 190 might be doable with a full (decatted) exhaust, headers and a very good intake but cracking 200 might be a stretch.

Main point is that a custom dyno tune is hard to beat IMO. Rechecked the logs after two days of pounding on the car and zero knocks.

Quick update / review after running this tune for a week or so now:

- I agree with what others have said about the @Visconti, @FA20Club.com and other tunes - this has got to be one of the best bang for the buck mods you can do for this car. 15-20hp and 10 foot pounds of torque might not seem like a lot but out on the road you can really feel the extra urge from the torque in almost every driving situation. Much more tractable and pulls stronger in all gears. Very nice surge in power at the top of the rev range too. When you're really 'on it' the car feels (and is) *much* faster. No more sense of the engine running out of breath - it just packs on speed right up to redline in every gear. Fun!

Overall the effect is that the car seems to have moved up a good notch in performance. You feel the benefits everywhere, all the time. Feels like the car should have come this way from the factory. Again - fun!

- The ECUTek racerom's launch control and flat foot shifting are a total hoot! Makes the car much faster overall in a straight line. Not such a big fan of the autoblip on downshift feature. It works as intended for sure but I found it a but weird having the car doing stuff for me. You get one blip only at a time so it's not so useful when downshifting multiple gears. I simply had the tuner disable it and couldn't be happier.

- Jury's still out on fuel economy. My particular tune seems to have lowered my mileage but that could be because I'm driving faster now.

- No bogging at low rpms and the engine runs smooth as silk.

In short - tune FTW! Also nice that subsequent tunes for new mods are cheaper if you feel like upgrading later.

I was wondering why the comparison dyno showed an almost perfectly proportionate increase in power all the way up, even with a drastically different AFR curve (highly unlikely)...

Then I saw this....

Naughty.. naughty!

The 2 dynos are in different gears 3rd and 4th!! that is not a legitimate comparison!!

Just came across this!!

It is the OEM gear ratio of the twins, according to the data in the image, I would think that the dyno pulls shud be performed in 5th gear for accurate 1:1 numbers.

The link to the product is below, can anyone with real dyno experience look in to this??

Hmm well spotted.

Afaik we did all the 'power' runs in 4th. The 3rd gear pulls were showing significantly less power than 160 IIRC.

Everything I posted should be 4th gear pulls... that's how the runs are titled at least. Unsure where the gear ratio data came from - really hope it's not a case of fishiness.

I'm posting all the actual screen caps I got sent below - best I can do?

This is another pull we did with the AFRs...not the final tune. Gear ratio listed as 'NA' that time for some reason:

And here's another early run where the gear ratio is listed as 43.xx as opposed to 42.xx

At any rate I'm interested in the deltas between before & after. Interested to hear more thoughts about the dyno logs though. I'm unclear about the details relating to how Dynopack dynos work & which values are populated automatically vs. user inputted. As far as I can tell they're legit - basically power gains through leaning the AFR & playing with the timing tables.

I'll be back there in a month or so to dyno tune the car again when I get around to putting an intake and over pipe + down pipe on so I can grab new screens then if there's anything ppl would like to see.

Hmm thats even more fishy!!!

Ok the new image says it is 4th gear but the gear ratio is still off (54.77 - 42.91)

even more fishy then that is the fact that it is the same dyno *.drf file and EXACTY the same date and time down to the second!! How is that possible??

It does seem pretty obvious that the gear ratios were imputed improperly for some reason... unsure why, how or what the effect on the readouts would be.

Pretty sure the 'after' numbers check out even if the baseline numbers could be questioned. In the vid I posted of the final run he's clearly in 4th and I'm fairly sure The car wouldn't have dynoed anywhere near 180 in 3rd or 4th untuned.

Also giving me comfort is that the numbers on my car seem pretty much bang in line with what I'm seeing from other before & after tunes by other tuners on other dynojets around the world on this forum. That I was standing right beside the dyno all day during the tuning helps and am very much enjoying the feel of the extra power on the road.

Am always happy to hear insights into the numbers though...to learn is why I share and I'm far from being a dynojet expert. Fire away!
