2006 Suzuki SV1000S, very low miles, plus gear

Greetings, good people of FT86Club.

I'm selling my motorcycle. There's nothing wrong with it; it just turns out that riding motorcycles isn't my thing. So I'm going to cash out and dump the money into car parts. Or hookers. Or something.

It's a 2006 Suzuki SV1000S, with 5,742 miles. As in, less than 6K. Compare that with other SVs in this year group that are pushing 20K+. The condition is very good. There are a few minor scuffs on the fairings under the handlebars where some movers did a shitty job strapping it down, and a scuff or two at the base of the tank where it meets the seat. This bike has never been down. Not even in a driveway or garage.

If you're not familiar with SVs, it's a 996cc 90* V-twin, naked sport bike. Not a supersport like a GSX-R or R1, just a sport. There's a lot more low end torque, so you don't need to rev the piss out of it to make it go. It's very mild mannered below 4K RPM, so you don't need to worry about doing the wrong thing when you first get on it.

This is actually my first bike, and if you're wondering why some dumbass would buy a 1000 for their first bike, it's because I'm 6'5"/230 lbs. To quote a friend of mine, on supersports I look like a monkey humping a roller skate. This bike is not cramped to ride; it's actually very comfortable. I bought it at 4,100 miles, so I've put about 1,500 on it since I've had it. Mostly highways, because that's all there is in Delaware and Las Vegas.

This bike has very few mods, so it's mostly stock. The previous owner added Rizoma turn signals front and back, and a rear fender eliminator. I put Motosliders frame and swingarm sliders on it. These are real sliders that connect through the main engine mounting bolt, not dressy chrome sliders that look cool and don't do shit. And that's all it has for mods.

I am looking to get $4,100 for this. Not negotiable at this time. To sweeten the deal a little, I'm also including a Harbor Freight rollover chock at no additional cost. This chock is awesome. This is how you get a bike from Delaware to Las Vegas with no damage. I will also throw in a Nelson-Rigg deluxe all-season cover, because having a bike cover and no bike is kind of dumb.

Test rides require cash in hand and a motorcycle endorsement on your license. I'm located in the northwest corner of Las Vegas, where 215 and 95 cross. If you're out of the area, I can ship the bike at the purchaser's expense.

If you're interested in gear, scroll down below the motorcycle. More pictures can be found at http://imgur.com/a/pfour.

Pics:

Chicken strips suck, blah blah blah. It's my first bike and there are no good roads in Delaware or Las Vegas. What do you want from me??

Chock!

Notice, it is only on the chock at this point. Straight up and down, no straps, no kick stand, nothing. The chock is that secure.

GEAR TIME!!!

All the gear, all the time. Keeps you from becoming a smear on the pavement if things go south. I will sell bits of gear independently.

If you want to know why I have hot and cold weather everything, it's because I bought my hot weather gear and Arai helmet shortly before getting a 1 year tasking to Afghanistan. It all went in storage. When I got back from Afghanistan in December of 2013, I bought a motorcycle. I needed gear and all mine was in storage, so I bought all the cold weather stuff.

First up, a Cortech GX Sport 3.0 jacket, size 2XL. This is a good three season jacket, not including summer. I've ridden with this jacket in temps down to 35*. The shell is 600 denier Cordura with 1680 denier Cordura at impact points. It has a quilted liner that zips and snaps in, but I've never used it. High visibility, as you can see. It has CE-approved armor at the shoulders and elbows with a triple density articulated foam back plate in the back. Pay no attention to the speckles, I think that's a camera artifact from using an iPhone camera on reflective material. I used this jacket the most. MSRP: $202, my price: $80.

Next up, a Cortech GX-Air 1.0 jacket, size 2XL. This is another three season jacket, not including winter. It's a mesh jacket with a waterproof/windproof liner and a quilted thermal liner. It has leather at the shoulders, the underside of the forearms and elbows, and the back. Also has CE-approved armor at shoulders and elbows and an articulated foam back pad. When all the liners are out, it flows a LOT of air. This is a great hot weather jacket. This jacket is barely used. MSRP if you can still find one: $224, my price: $120.

Third up, TourMaster Flex pants, size XLT. These are true four season pants. I've ridden with these anywhere from 35* to 100*. It's a mesh pant with zip-off 600 denier Cordura panels around each of the legs. It also has a waterproof/windproof liner and a quilted thermal liner. It has side zips that go up to mid-thigh, in case you want to use them as overpants. It has three position CE-approved armor in the knees and dense foam pads in the hips. It has a YKK zipper on the back that connects easily to either jacket listed above, to keep the jackets from riding up and the pants from riding down. MSRP: $180, my price: $100.

Icon Mil-Spec mesh vest. Required for military. MSRP is $55, my price, $20. If you're nice to me I'll throw it in with something else you buy.

Continued in post 2!

Still more gear! More pictures can be found at http://imgur.com/a/pfour.

To start this post off, a pair of Tourmaster Solution WP 2.0 boots, size 46W (12W for those in the colonies). I don't have wide feet, they just run narrow. These boots are waterproof, windproof, and insulated. A good pair of ski socks and these will get you down into the 30's. I will not sell my ski socks, because that's gross. MSRP: $116, my price: $75

Next up, an Arai Vector 1 helmet, size 2XL, gloss black with dark smoke visor. I love this helmet. It's less like wearing a helmet and more like wearing a luxury overstuffed recliner. It's that comfortable. It's DOT and Snell approved, so I'm halfway considering keeping it for autocross. Not a whole lot of miles in this helmet, because it was in storage for most of the time I had the bike. MSRP: $450, my price: $250.

Third up, an HJC CL-16 helmet, size 2XL, silver with a clear visor and smoke pinlock insert. I also have a clear pinlock insert. This is the helmet I bought when I bought my bike, so it has more miles on it. Still very comfortable, just not as plush as the Arai. MSRP: $108, my price: $60

Fourth up, the prize of today's event: a pair of Racer High End gloves, size 1XL. Racer is an Austrian company that is only just recently coming to the US. These gloves are freaking amazing. So many awesome features that you only find on top of the line racing gloves. It has external box stitching, kangaroo leather palms with cow leather in high wear areas and carbon pucks on the palms in case you superman off your bike. The carbon knuckles are floating, with articulated leather underneath. The thumb knuckle has a leather cap over it, with articulated leather underneath. The pinky and ring finger are attached to each other to prevent separation in case of an accident. It's a full gauntlet glove with a gusset in the gauntlet to cover your jacket's sleeve. Very very low miles. MSRP: You can't find these anymore. Especially not in this condition. My price is $150. It won't break my heart if these don't sell.

Fifth? up: Cortech Scarab gloves, size 1XL. These are great winter gloves that have seen some miles. They have hard armor over the knuckles and a full gauntlet over the wrist. MSRP: $85, my price: $30

Finally, a Cortech (see a trend here?) Super 2.0 18 liter magnetic tank bag, never been used. EDIT: SOLD!

Bump! Motorcycle now moved to the used car lot on Nellis AFB. If you're not military and you would like to take a look at it, let me know and we can arrange to meet off base.

I've been informed that I'm asking for too much money, plus I suck at bargaining. So, $4100 firm. Gear can be worked into the deal.

beep boop bop. I know someone wants this. It's so... blue. And torquey. It has 108 hp and 69 (it's a sex thing) lb-ft of torque. And it only weighs 450 lbs! What's not to like about that??

I'm going to make this bike into an exhaust, suspension, and a new couch and loveseat. Maybe a set of wheels or powdercoat the oem wheels.

It's too hot to ride here. It is currently 108 and the highs for the rest of the week are 110, 113, 110, 108, and 105. If it's too hot to wear your gear, it's too hot to ride. Plus, Las Vegas is one of the highest ranking cities for DUIs and blown redlight fatalities. Riding just isn't worth that for me.

Looks like a nice bike and the price is not bad (average retail) for a low miles bike but you are 3-4 days ride from here!

I've been looking for an SV1000 but I just can't do the road trip right now.
