Wheel studs. If you're doing a lot of driving you'll also be changing tires or doing other maintenance where the wheels come off. Eventually the factory wheel studs will start breaking on you. Upgrading to ARP wheel studs is a good choice, it won't guarantee they won't break but they are stronger.

This is good advice.

Last winter, I had a local shop mount Blizzaks on my stock wheels. Then when it warmed up, I got a set of nicer wheels and summer tires. While swapping wheel sets, I found out one of my lug nuts was cross-threaded by accidentally twisting one of the studs off trying to take the stock wheels off Thankfully, the shop that mounted my winter tires (and presumably cross-threaded that lug nut) was very understanding and replaced the stud for me at no charge. But yeah, upgraded wheel studs something I'll probably do at some point. Its a no brainer for higher-mileage cars where the wheels have come on and off many times since the stock studs seem to be relatively fragile.

The question is, how can you have been a member of this forum for 3 years and not know what a TOB is?

At 160k and just replaced a rear wheel bearing and AC condenser.

Total issues since 6 miles were on the clock (May 2013)
- Replaced clutch due to TOB at around 100k
- 1 rear wheel bearing
- AC condenser replaced due to leak

While getting these 2 issues done at 160k, they also noticed an oil leak:
1.) Oil leak present from timing cover. Requires re-seal.
2.) Oil leak present from oil pan. Requires re-seal.
3.) Possible oil leak present from rear main seal. Must repair oil pan leak and inspect again.

Two years ago it was not a common or mentioned issue. I haven’t been here in a long time. Was there a year this thing was corrected in its design?

There are threads all the way back to 2012 referencing TOB problems. Supposedly the design was improved around 2016/2017.

130k miles and I just replaced both axles. The inner CVs were leaking and showing excessive play.

I’m also on my third clutch but have the updated TOB this time.

1 every 65k-70k. I just got the new one.

At 70k my first TOB failed, and at 130k I could still drive the car but the pilot bearing seized and I decided to replace it with the new bearing for my upcoming track day, just in case.

The car was starting to grind shifting into 4th gear redline WOT.
