I may be able to install and dyno soon. Stay tuned....

Meanwhile I have a question. What is the shroud that the manual does not say to remove but shows pictures without (pics anyone)?

I don't know about the shroud, but the insert is inside the piece the MAF screws into. The air straighteners stay, but the insert can be removed to provide greater airflow. There is a hole in the insert for the MAF, so the MAF has to come off first, then the insert can be slid out/off the air straighteners.

I pulled my insert out today to start scaling the MAF to use with RomRaider and my OFT and tune it myself. I had the MAF scaled pretty close with the insert, and it varied from 108% to 116% of the stock MAF scale. Without the insert, it took me 3 trys just to get it close enough to keep the engine running. I got it under 20 STFT with 160% over stock, and under 10 with 165% over stock. That is a giant increase in airflow, not just over the stock airbox, but over the Skunk2 with the insert in as well.

The percentage I'm talking about made by taking the stack MAF scale in g/s, and putting it in a spreadsheet, applying a formula to the top cell times 1.65, then simply dragging the formula to cover the rest of the scale. This isn't perfect by any means, but it gives me a place to start. Now it runs well enough to start logging and scaling cell-by-cell.

I'd be happy to share the MAF scale I end up with. Just send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the spreadsheet. I can also put it into the OFT tune you use if you're not handy with a spreadsheet. Just make sure to let me know your original ROM type, and the tune you're using.

It's not an indicator of the amount of air entering the engine, merely that of which the sensor meters.

I have a MAF scale for the Skunk2 without insert that's running good. Fuel trims are in the single digits. This is really a big difference, makes driving more fun. Send me a PM with your email address, if you want me to send you the scale as a spreadsheet. If you have an OFT and don't know how to use RomRaider to modify tunes, send me a PM with your ROM type, preferred OTS tune, and I'll put the MAF scale into the corresponding tune for you and email it back to you.
