[QUOTE=sho220;1015496]The law is not there to benefit the public, it's there to benefit law enforcement personnel.

The world does not revolve around you...

****

...Wow, I never said it did, and it doesn't revolve around you either officer.

And no, the LAW is not there to benefit law enforcement (well this particular front plate law does), but not the concept of LAW. The law was created to help promote a productive and functioning society, NOT SERVE YOU. That's what most cops don't realize, they are public servants, not the other way around.

By the way, many states don't even require front plates so they obviously don't think its that big of deal now do they?

Go look up John Locke, natural rights, and the social contract and then come talk to me about law...

Marguerite is in Newport Beach if I remember correctly...and Irvine PD operates in a very safe city, whether it is a function of their efforts or otherwise.

When responding to calls where a plate is given, one must maneuver in such a way as to see the plate on the rear of the vehicle as it goes past you. This can become rather difficult when the vehicle is traveling in the opposite direction.

While scanning cars parked in residential PVAs, which are often backed into spaces in most of our city's housing projects, it requires Officers to get out and read a plate instead of proficiently scanning plates to find a stolen vehicle, vehicle of interest, etc.

Vehicle description and license plate are occassionally required when serving a search warrant on a home. Having to go secret squirrel to read the plate of a vehicle parked up to a house can also be time consuming as well as risk tipping off residents inside the home.

When looking for suspect vehicles, it's a lot easier to eliminate the many "gray Honda Civic" cars on the road by scanning the front plates. When we find "the one", we can take appropriate action. If I see a suspect vehicle that doesn't have a front plate, but otherwise fits the description of the vehicle I'm looking for, I will stop it. Having a front plate will eliminate the unnecessary stop.

When the drunk plows into the parked car there is no plate left behind when they flee the scene at 0300. Cant tell you how many suspect vehicle front plates are laying on the ground next to the scene.

^^^Now most of that stuff I agree with. But let's face it, front plate tickets are handed out to generate revenue and the front plate law to serve as a pretext to pull people over to look for something substantial to hit them with...that I do not agree with.

I doubt they make any significant revenue from just front plate tickets. However, that opens the door for them to ping you on other stuff. Which is why I run a front plate. Seems pretty simple.

We have a few options here:

1. Run front plate and get on with life
2. Run no front plate, get a ticket, and cry on the internet
3. Or, actually do something to try and change the law

Maybe it's just me, but #2 seems the least productive...

Lol sorry guys I didnt mean to start a whole debate. Just to clear things up though. @sho220 are you talking to me directly? Because if so WHAT, bro you have no idea what your talking about LOL. since when did posting a picture equal to bitching? anyways, you dont even know the story..He only had a problem with my car height primarily..which is mainly why i posted it in this thread. He spotted me when I exited off the freeway from like 2 blocks away. Thats why he pulled me over but then like 10 minutes later after talking to me about the dangers of my ride height and all that he randomly remember to just check the front of my car for a plate..he didn't even know before. At that same time he was like, "You should feel lucky because I'm not even going to write you up for your tints." I don't even have tinted windows in the front.. But yeah its just a fix it ticket i think your getting a little bit more emotional about it then I am lol I'm on coilovers.

btw I got pulled over near saddleback college for those asking.

now, to keep things moving
