The spring is supposed to create and keep tension on the radiator zip ties, but I didn't really have room for them the way I ran the zip ties, so I also didn't use them.

Gasket on down pipe

Hi,

Do you know if the down pipe and turbo hotside is suppose to have a gasket? I didn't get one. And the tab on the air filter sitting about the crash beam doesn't even align with the hole-.-

No gasket needed since its a machined surface. I use one anyway but it didnt make a difference. The intake is a tight fit since no two cars super soft motormounts hold the engine in the same spot.

I didn't get a gasket, but just like Reaper I did buy one and installed it later. You need to loosely connect the coupler on the turbo and the pipe until you can get the tab to line up with the bolt hole.

Guys, my tuner has just gone to fit the FBM 485 pump kit and is concerned as it doesnt seem to fit properly. It just seem to float around in the bottom of the tank (his words). Any suggestions or a link to some install instructions ? Just like my JDL turbo kit FBM didnt ship their pump kit with any instructions

Remember, the OEM design holds the FP inside the canister by the force applied on the clamps. FBM design holds the pump in place with the billet piece on the bottom.

The large metal ring goes all the way onto the top of the top canister cover on the bottom part of it. (see pic below). Note and make sure the rubber gasket that usually sits on the mentioned top cover needs to be removed for this. Also, the small rubber o ring on the metal ring needs to face up to the sky.

Good luck and let me know if you need anything else.

I just "fixed" this problem for a friend of mine. What I did was drill small holes in the mounting tabs that you can't use anymore because the pump is too tall, then drill a hole in the side of the mounting area on the holder and use a tie strap to keep it from moving around.

Also, I've seen a lot of mistakes made when putting in a new pump, the internal hose routing needs to route underneath everything in such a way that it does not interfere with the unit when it's compressed on the slide spring. Otherwise this causes you a lot of issues down the road, kinked hoses, incorrect fuel level readings, etc. Also make sure to solder the leads.. Big pumps make a lot of vibration, crimp connections fail at some point.

That is how I installed both the pump to the inner housing and the inner housing to the outer housing. It worked great for me for many miles. As @Ironsquid mentioned make sure you actually compress the housings prior to reinstall to make sure that the fuel lines and wires have slack and no issues.

On someone who has never installed a turbo kit how hard would it be? Would love to do this myself as I have done all my other mods myself.

It is not hard at all if you follow the instructions. Please PM me your email address and I can send out install instructions for you to review.

I've never installed a turbo. If you can work a set of wrenches and a few sockets you'll be fine.

It's just another bolt on

Take your time, and allow yourself plenty of time to do the work. I knew what I was doing but I still allowed myself two full days dedicated to it.
