Question Oil Filter Question

I'm tad curious, I currently have a 2015 FRS. Prior to posting this I did my search and did not yielded any results too my inquiry, so don't bash me on if I missed something.

Some people are saying to use Subaru OEM Oil Filters, (smaller/taller once) meanwhile others are saying to use Toyota OEM Oil Filters.

I recently picked up (2) Toyota OEM Filters, Part #: 90915-YZZS1

And now with tad bit more reading, I'm wondering if the Toyota OEM filter is just as good as the Subaru OEM filter, or should I get the Subaru OEM filters next time?

I mean it's just an OEM filter, this isn't K&M or HKS $40+ filter.

I think the general consensus is that it's Subaru's engine, so if one filter is better than the other, it's probably theirs.

def safe to use the toyota filters, but next time get the oem made in japan subie filter, they are actually cheaper than most ironically, despite being the gold standard filter. even my tune shops ig page puts out psa's on their story telling people to not use k&n lol

Both oem are great. If going with Subaru go with the black one. If going with Toyota, really any one would do.

What's so shitty about Frams? I've been using them for over 40 years and never had a problem. And most of my cars have made it over 200,00 miles. My FR-S has 163,00 miles on it and I've been using shitty Frams since the first oil change. I like the grippy section where you can remove them by hand. And the price.
You know, it is just an oil filter. All it does is filter the oil. Some people make a big deal out of anything.
I also used to use shitty Quaker State oil before Synthetic was invented and never had sludge or any problems at all.
Marketing is marketing. And oil is oil.

I have been using the Subaru black oil filter (15208AA130) for 6 years+ and over 84k miles. I have gotten more than one blackstone lab report where they actually mentioned that I have excellent filtration.

My advice, is get in BULK these: 15208AA130 make sure you get ones that come with crush washers

I have heard good things about wix oil filters but have no tried them.

Edit in fact here you go a spoon fed link to a decent deal for quality 12 filters in bulk:

Can confirm I run a Napa Gold (by Wix) filter and Blackstone indicates I have good filtration as well.

As for OP, when I did use oem (which there is nothing wrong with) I opted for the Subaru black.

I've been using the Toyota filters with no issue. I feel like unless you're re-using the filter, no filter should ever CAUSE a problem.
What possibly could be in your oil that one filter stops and the other doesn't?

The old orange fram filters were known to have cheap internal construction. There was little filter material compared to most if not all other brands, and would often fall apart.

They must have changed up their branding more recently since I didn't see the orange filter available a week ago.

I've been running amsoil oil filters from the first oil change. I'm lazy and buy it with my oil from a rep around the corner from me. That bulk order of 12 black Subaru filters looks like a good deal, and would last me 5 years lol.
