How about setting up the speakers? The stereo in my car came with the "car type" set to "tC" and it sounded horrible. It wasn't until I manually changed the head unit to know that it was in an FR-S that it sounded good (and now it sounds impressively good to my ears, for a stock setup).

I wonder how much, if any, trouble it is to get the mapping right on an Android HU.

It would be like any other aftermarket stereo. You have to adjust the sound settings to get the sound reproduction you are looking for. The difference is that aftermarket stereos have more adjustability.

Which wiring harness/dash kit do you suggest getting?

Yeah, I realize that any after market stereo will require fine-tuning to get it sounding good. My question was more "how easy/hard are these Android units to dial in".

I think I spent 10 minutes playing with the software equalizer as well as the amp crossovers/gain control. I would recommend using an app like PowerAmp. It seems to have better frequency response from the equalizer.

I can tell you one thing, though. It was a HELL of a lot easier than on the Kenwood Excelon unit I had in the car for a couple weeks. That thing was a pain in the ass to navigate around. I don't think I've ever gotten THAT angry at a head unit before. But I digress.

Well, I know Sirius XM has an app that you can use. But that will need a data connection.

Yup. As well as full video/audio in and out for multiple zones.

Is it possible to hook these head units up to a GPS enabled Dash Cam? It doesn't make sense to have multiple GPS antennas in a vehicle and it would be sweet to have the two work in unison.

No rush, but just checking to see if you were able to find out the necessary harness / dash kit that we need for the BRZ to take on the Ca-Fi.

Thanks!

Just wondering, what about the GOPRO android app, that allows you to see what you're recording and start-stop the camera?
It works estabilishing its own wifi network and the phone connect to it, much like the hotspot function of a normal phone.
