HI,
I start to looking for body kits and plan to install it in spring.
I might want to mix the front lip, side skirts and rear spats from different brands due to the budget issue or personal preference. I am not yet making the final decision now.
I have two questions as below.
1.STI front lip
http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_detail.php?NUMBER=00040550&VOLUME=484-004-001&DEALER=1&CAR=177&MIDDLE=2&SMALL=11&MAKER=4&VOL KEY=&SEARCH_DEALER=1&SEARCH_CAR=177&SEARCH_MIDDLE= 2&SEARCH_SMALL=11&SEARCH_MAKER=&SEARCH_VOLKEY=&SEA RCH_page=2&submit.x=54&submit.y=5
It mentioned that "Black painted".
Do you know what the color code is?
I might need to paint other parts to color match this.

2. STI side skirts
http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_detail.php?NUMBER=00041126&VOLUME=484-004-002&DEALER=1&CAR=177&MIDDLE=2&SMALL=11&MAKER=4&VOL KEY=&SEARCH_DEALER=1&SEARCH_CAR=177&SEARCH_MIDDLE= 2&SEARCH_SMALL=11&SEARCH_MAKER=&SEARCH_VOLKEY=&SEA RCH_page=2&submit.x=31&submit.y=7
It mentioned that "Half matte Black finish. Is the same color as the STI front lip?
What color code is, if it is not the same?

Thanks a lot.

I think that's just a bad J-Parts engrishy translation. All of the parts lip, sides, spats and diffuser are a dull ABS finish. Not painted.

If the other parts that you get are a "rough" ABS finish, then you should be close to matching.

Is the color very different between polyurethane (PU) and ABS?
Thanks.

It could be. But I doubt anyone other than you would notice. I don't know though.

The STI aero parts do have a dull black finish but I think an extra process was done to make the finish look like that. Because the back side of the plastics (some PPE synthetic material) has varying shades of black and uneven textures. This tells me the front side has some sort of finish applied to it.

I did not notice any color codes, but my front lip is a shade lighter and more flat colored than my side skirts. The side skirts are a deeper black with a little more shine. This tells me they were prepped in slightly different ambient environments which can affect consistency of the finish. The front lip came out months before the sides did and I bought them months apart from each other so they definitely weren't prepped at the same time. You might be able to see the difference:

For your purposes, I think any of the HT Auto, Bayson R, and STI pieces can be mixed and matched. I'm not sure how any other brands would work (for example, the Chargespeed pieces look super shiny in comparison).

I like your theme. Back in the day (02-04) we would do this to our STI's and WRX's with the S202-S203 series parts from STI. You have done it well with the BRZ.

If you're ever in Maryland hit me up and we can shoot a short video on your car.

BTW....STI should be paying you as your car is a rolling catalog !

HI,
Will spray paint on tail and head light cause the problem during the safety inspection?
How do you think?
Thanks.

Wow love your car, I wanna do a black and blue theme too. Have you thought about doing a vinyl wrap for the roof in either black or cf pattern?

And why do all the super sexy JDM parts have to be so expensive. $200 for STI lug nuts, and $400 for the STI springs...that's double most of the other springs on the market, but I want a mild drop that won't ruin my struts, so I think I'll be saving for the STI springs after all. Thanks for the pics! Hope to see more eventually!
