Bright Lights! 2017 LEDs

I like the way my MY2017 headlights are clear and bright.

But,

I keep getting people flashing their headlights at me as if I have my high beams on. Which I don't.

Anyone else having this issue?

Yes, I know, the punch line is "your wife has been flashing her headlights at me all night..."

Bill

Have you checked the angle and tried adjusting them?

Yes, every time that I drive at night at least a few cars flash their brights at me as if I have my brights on. I think it’s mostly that they are used to seeing the dim Halogen bulbs in other cars and assume that we have our brights on because of the brilliant white light from the LEDs.

The 17 BRZs have auto leveling headlights... though I suppose you could still choose to manually adjust them under the hood. I’m not inclined to adjust my headlights to where I can’t see as well just because other drivers are getting their panties in a wad

Kangaroos have no headlights to flash at you...

Not every night, however, it does happen to me occasionally.

Happens on occasion. A lot of people just don't understand light very well.

Literally it happens to me every night on the interstate -- People pump their brake lights to let me know, to which I respond with a quick 2x flash of the high beams and then they seem to get it.

Even had a current-gen STI pump their brakes at me because of the LED headlights.

my 2017 has never had anyone flash me, maybe yours are off a bit and need to be checked for right height.

Taxi's have done the same to me a few occasions and I'm just running the OEM HIDs... Though mine is MY2013...

(Note: Almost always during rainy days at night, I wonder if the shape of our headlight plastic cover + the refraction of the rain has anything to do with it... I also find that if your headlight plastic cover isn't clean, it refracts light all over the place.)

Thinking back now, I should have flashed them back lol

Sounds like they just need to be adjusted down a little bit. General rule of thumb is a 2” drop at 25’ but in our cars I think a 1” drop would be good enough since it sits so low.

They don’t seem to be up high. There is a distinct cut off line that shines along the tree lines and houses. It appears to be below the other drivers windshield level generally, but we do have a lot of hills here in SE PA.

I just think they are really bright. Is that something that can be adjusted? I looked online and in the manual but didn’t see anything.

Maybe I should rub some mud across the lenses.

I've been flashed a few times in mine as well, but not enough for me to crawl under the hood and try to adjust the headlights. It seems to be a somewhat common thing with the 17+ BRZs.
