Big welcome to everyone who just joined and thanks for the stories! Some of you have owned cars that I dreamed about as a kid in the '60s/'70s - I've always had a huge soft spot for small roadsters and around age 11 I was saving up to buy a little TR3 that cruised around town with a for sale sign. I figured by the time I had my license I'd have enough saved to buy the car. And of course I was certain that it'd still be available by then lol.

Fine by me! Let's see if anyone else wants to chip in with suggestions. Meanwhile, can you tell me how I go about creating a group?

Also I noticed that this thread has an endearing tag attached to it. @dem00n, do we have you to thank for that?
Does that mean that anyone at all can edit tags for any thread? Gee... all of a sudden I'm feeling like a complete Internet noob. I must be getting old

I need another 20 years before I can join here but I've really enjoyed reading about all of your past rides! I see a few of you have had the old Jag E-Type, I'm so jealous that I'll never know what its like to see one of these brand new rolling down the street. My dad had one that he got when a guy traded the car for his bar, haha, I love old stories like that

If I may suggest: the AARP86 Club? :happy0180:

ding ding ding I think we have a winner! <3

Let's start taking votes for our group name (now that I know how to create one :P Thanks @Spartan65!). Uh, maybe I should start a new thread so we can have a new poll to count votes. I'll do that shortly and post the link here.

Haha yeah there are lots of cars I would have loved to have seen in their heyday - '59 Corvette and BMW 507 are a couple that come to mind. But just think, you'll be able to tell your grandkids about how you were one of the early owners of this amazing little sports car that came out just when people had started giving up on the idea of an affordable back-to-basics car that was about driving and not about high-tech wizardry And I love the stories, too. Yours reminded me of one my parents told about a car my father had built (back then you could do that!) and then sold to buy my mom's engagement ring.

Fair 'nuff I notice you started a trend, though; we now have a handful of 90+ club members

Tell ya what - I did invite young folks to listen in and ask questions, so any under 40's who make positive contributions can become honorary members. Just stay off whaap's lawn!!!!!!!!!

Ok got it, thanks! I guess we need a logo/graphic as well. Anyone want to create one? Might be easier once we've settled on a name lol. Ok and what happens after the group is created? How do people join? What does it really mean to be in a group i.e. do we have some sort of area where we can make group threads or something? Sorry to be such a noob about this; this is the first time I've been on a forum that used the group feature
