Only the header. I am aware that we could not get the complete package, because of noise regulations. |

Yes agree none of those tavle differences are going to produce power looks like mayve economy and emissions changes mostly. I think nikitopo might be onto it though if the euro 2017 got the updated header might be more efficient , the old stock tune was quite agressive timing wise and knocked like crazy on out rubbish fuel here. |

Plus it doesn't make sense. If the new header is less restrictive, it would make sense to run more timing or the same as before. No sense in making it more conservative after the car ran successfully for 5 years. Unless they released it for 95 octane. I know someone who just took delivery of a MY17 BRZ, I'll ask him. He had an Ecutek tuned GT86 before so I'll also ask him if it feels down on power - though I guess the new final drive makes it difficult to compare. Did the tune come directly off a Euro car?

It puts the car in a different class of pollution and the car will cost too much for anybody to buy it. I think we got the tweaked suspension, but all the fun stuff like the header, intake and Final drive is still like the old 2013-2016 version. They also changed the tune like @Tor mentioned to have less power it seems. edit: EU does have the 4.3 final drive. Yay

More PI % running, so less timing would make sense.

K00G still runs earlier PI Ratios..... so scratch that idea.

- Can I do a read and save without suitable EcuFlash defs? - I read in some thread that during a read there is also a short write - or was that something specific of Ecutek? Don't want to brick someone else's ECU and if he agrees to let me do a read I want to be sure if I tell him it's 100% safe.

Just save rom as srf or as a bin does not rearly matter as you can convert. Tactrix wont let you write unless you make up a dummy def file for writing so no chance of harming ecu. If you use save as function and save as a BIN file (it will thow another warning about lost data dont worry just click yes to save. Then you will be able to read that bin file with romraider if its a K00G rom If hour friend wants to write/tune his car i can convert the romraider def to a ecuflash def if you want |

It leads to another question that I'm curious about. When I started out tuning, I was adviced never to modify and reflash my stock rom. Not that I ever wanted to do that, but were there a specific reason for that advice? E.g. if I already had A01G on my car, would there be a difference between an A01G pulled directly off a car and e.g. an OFT A01G in the areas not defined?

Opensource systems like oft and tactrix only modify the code area between 8000 and 13fff hex. The section between 0000-7fff is just padding and not written. Some systems pad this differently eith ff or 00 characters. Their is no vin or other unique info in the section written so an A01G rom is same whether it came off a subaru or toyota, so no real reason to never edit your stock rom as long as you have an original somewhere. Or someone elses original. Ecuflash srf format stores some vin and other data but this isnt written durjng flash, its just for the tactric guys to aid rom identification and dissassembly. |
