No, it's not a custom seat, just made-to-order in the sense that they don't normally stock them. I've read a good bit from others who have these seats, and unfortunately it'll probably be a bit wide for me. It's pretty much a copy of the factory Elise/Exige seats, but ever so slightly more narrow. I'm 6'1"-ish and ~170lbs.
So will it be perfect? No. But it's the least bang for the buck in terms of weight:dollars. And it's pretty. This picture doesn't do it justice. I'll be taking some good ones myself once it's installed.

I can sit in the stock seat fine, but do wish it was wider. (I'm 6'3" 100kg/220lb)
I'd be interested in this seat as well, price dependant. I was going to go Bride, but theres no way they're that light, and they're $1500 each. |

$1,150.01 after shipping from Italy to the US.
I'm going to have to cut metal out of the chassis to get it to fit though. So if that's something that bothers you, you'll have to come up with an alternative, or this seat just isn't for you. This isn't my car, of course, but it shows exactly what I'm talking about:

Anything is possible with enough tweaking. Just depends on how involved you're willing to get or how deep your wallet is. I haven't sat in it yet, but hopefully it will be here before December. Lots of other people that have ordered them have had US customs baby sit them for about a month before after shipping them to their final destination.
If you order one, you can reasonably expect it to take about 2 months between the time you pay until it arrives at your door. And 3 months wouldn't be unheard of. If it takes 4 months, I'll start getting mad. I'll have a very in-depth review of this once it's installed, since I'm about 105% sure I'll be the first one with this seat. EDIT: And I have no clue how comfortable it is. Hopefully very, but let's be realistic: it's essentially a piece of plastic.

7lbs, me so jelly. I picked up a pair of Bride Low max seats today on the cheap. Just weight them without brackets, 5kg / 11b.

Hahaha! Yeah well... IDMASFCKKKKK! I guess that's a thing... IDM...
Speaking of their weight, the funny thing is I don't know exactly how much they weigh. I've seen several numbers. They've all been within a pound, but when it comes to the real life weight of the seats, the cushion, the brackets, and the hardware... I really don't know. If you think I won't be buying two accurate scales (one for oz/g's and one for lb/kg's) when I get back home, you're crazy as shit. SCIENCE!!!

Yeah I want to do the same. I'm just using analogue bathroom scales.

That's pretty much going to be my hobby for like the first 3 months I'm home. Some people are into sports, others make music or have collections. Me... I sit around and weigh things.

Only concern I'd have is how comfortable is that seat going to be though?

But srsly though, I'll probably put my factory FR-S seats into my DD once they wear out. I wouldn't be buying this seat for a DD. I like doing 2,000+ mile road trips. This thing is going to have 0 adjustability. No sliding, reclining, tilting, twirling, somersaults, etc.

I dig the new seat.
One thing awesome about what you are doing...you still have a DD. I have seen so many people strip a car down for track days...and that car is still their DD. The whole stripped of carpet feel gets really tiresome quick...when you realize 80% of your driving is DD and maybe 20% is AutoX or Track Time. Anyway, looking good man. |
